The cheaper deals on BT Sport on Sky (which still aren't that cheap) call for 12 month contracts. Pricing all seems wrong to me - £30 connection charge for a rolling contract is just crazy. Like you at a £10-£15 monthly price point (with no 12 month tie in) I might well bite, but I refuse to be bound by a 12 month contract especially when the reverse situation (ie Sky Sports on BT) is based on monthly rolling contracts. It doesn't seem even handed but I guess BT deliberately inflate the price because they can be seen to offer the channels (as I assume Ofcom require) but what they really want is for you to subscribe to their broadband.

I feel as if it all went wrong 10 or so years ago when the powers that be decided that Sky had to share the Premier League rights. Was nice and simple when there was just one provider. I can see why they did it but it seems to have inflated prices rather than increase competition.

I realise this isn't an answer, more about shared frustration.

Best workaround for me is indeed EE app at £5 per month but no use for recording and live pause. I'd pay a little more to have access to it on my Sky box.

Any suggestions from elsewhere would help me too.

And it sounds like you're paying too much for Sky. You should be able to negotiate 60% off at contract renewal.

I have got 60% discount, just the multi rooms pushing price up....
Might have to get EE offer for next year. Would prefer lower subscription especially as BTsport has got champions league for another 3 years!
