Hi all,

I just moved in to a flat where there is no broadband. Pretty bad :(, right? I don't know if there is a BT line as well. I am gonna have to find out with landlord.

Anyway, how many options do I have? I heard Virgin is the only one don't need fixed/BT phone line, right?

Any particular deal or offer that you would recommand?

Thanks in advance.

Do you see a BT Phone socket anywhere around the place? The problem with Virgin is that they'd have to drill through the walls and fit it all the stuff, the landlord would probably have to approve that.

I saw a Be value half price offer a couple of days ago on here. Thats the best offer. o2 would be the second cheapest!

I would try and avoid virgin media unless you want to pay £38 a month for their 50mb broadband, as its the only one without traffic shaping and such. (bad things!)

i would go with "BE" if you have them in your areae, very hard to not pay the BT line rental

Why pick on Virgin? The broadband is stable & reliable & faster than the opposition. The other services that they offer are another matter! :whistling:

Thanks for all your replies Razord, Mcallim7 and Nitro111.

Yes, I saw the BT socket covered with dust. I am sure it is not in service though. He told me they are not paying for the telephone line.

If I want to go with Virgin, drilling holes through wall might be a problem. But I will discuss with Landlord if that is not going to cause major damage to his property. I phoned Virgin this morning, they said during 12 months contract if I move my house again, they can transfer the BB to another house without any charges. ( that is good but I don't know the other ISP are the same). They have offer for 5 pounds for first three months and 15 pounds thereafter.

If I want to go with other suppliers which need BT line, how much do I have to pay for the cheapest line rental. Isn't like I am committing to two contracts (one for Broadband supplier and one for BT)? I really don't want that.

Is BE broadband any good? I have never heard of it.

Please leave more recommendations and let's debate about ISPs.

12 month contract - When you move house most major ISP will let you take the contract with you, be careful as this will most likely mean that you have to renew your 12 month term again.

Cheapest BT line rental, £11.25 per month, free weekend calls, need to pay by DD and get bills online.

Yes it will be having a contract with BT and then a seperate contract with your BB provider.

First thing to do is phone BT and see if that line is active, if not will cost a bit to get reactivated.

Go from there 0800 800 150 is the numeber you need

will i get any cashback from Quidco or Topcashback if I chose Virgin Broadband?

On topcashback website says it needs to be Non-cable sales (I don't know what that mean)
