I want one for tonight - so its got to be a shop etc.

So basically from Comet, Curry's PC World, Aldi, Misco (a small detour), Asda, Tesco, Sainsburys, Makro, Costco or anyone else in West Central belt.

Any suggestions?

Rep for them all

There were none in Curry's as posted below, so still looking.

I think I am going for theSEAGATE 1TB FreeAgent Desk 1TB Home storage.

Its about £75 something from PC world - its Which? best buy (as is the one yipykayay has posted) but comes with a five year warranty.

Has anyone else any other views, etc?

Hmmph.. I would have suggested the seagate but you asked for the cheapest:)
5 year warranty does it for me

All I would say is be very careful with Seagate products. I recently had a bad experience whereby I couldn't access my data on an external drive and they wanted £800+ for it to go to their data recovery people.

I posted it as a deal to see what the response is...

I've never had a Seagate external drive but I have 2 x 80 gb internals which are now 11 years old and living in their third PC.
I'm not claiming that they are any better than any other drives but my personal experience would make Seagate my first choice if I needed a replacement:thumbsup:

dont trust any hard drive so back up all the time, (they are so cheap 1tb internal delivered for £50. ish) then if something goes wrong you have a copy, and with the 5 year guarantee at least you will get a replacement hard drive
