Retentions should phone you back. I could have taken £18/month for 70mbps, broadband only. But took £20/month for their vivid 100mbps with no phone. :)

That does seem a lot, I pay about 50 quid, but that's for 150mb broadband with line rental and medium TV. Been a customer for about ten years.
I told them I was thinking of going to sky, made a strong argument that I really wanted to watch sky Atlantic and told them I had already spoken to sky and had a deal price that i liked. Worked for me.

HUKD member shauno1 posted about this topic last week. The preferred solution was to cancel DD, rack up some late payment charges, suggest VM changes its name to Vampire Media, and start a contract with BT. There was some other incidental stuff including trashing a relative's credit file as a result of cancelling the DD, and being very happy with the outcome. Subject thread has since been deleted but it can be viewed here: http://archive.is/4BoCT and https://archive.is/b2vvn

Be patient after cancellation. Let them ring a few times. You have the power. I have the full house bundle for £35 a month for a 12 month only contract.

don't worry about virgin or sky were coming up to summer and its their quietest time of the year , they boom in winter because we In the uk spend winter indoors , soon they will be offering freebies like a free tv etc its the same every year

£15 for 50MB broadband only. It was a retentions deal. They will call after couple of days of you giving notice and that is when you should haggle! Make sure you know what is on offer from other providers in your area!
Good luck

not many are aware but not all devices can cope with 100Mb, if you do a speed test on a device that can only cope with 50 it will show as the max the device can allow. May not be an issue for you but not all of virgins first line of defence experts know this :(

...and then make sure they actually apply the discounts! My mum was meant to be paying £7 less as a result of the retentions deal (yeah, we got a terrible offer!) but when I checked the next bill she was actually paying double what we'd been promised, and they'd removed some services too.

They should offer to upgrade to a suitable router when they upgrade you, if they don't ask, and they can also wave the cost of the router.

its nothing to do with the router, its about the hardware that you use, many laptops cant cope with those speeds over wifi, older ipads up to the air can't, older phones cant each piece of kit will have its limitations and everyone thinks oh I have 50Mb so I should be getting it but if the device max is say 20Mb you will never get 50.

That deal requires the line rental as well.

I'm in my 30 day period. I'm waiting for a BB deal only. Never have a phone plugged in.

switched from VM to sky last year and pay less than half what VM could offer (customer for 20 years!). Wish I had done it years ago. Worth a look.

Now pay £14 per month for 40mbps fibre and line rental
