Been looking at booked a cheap 7 days holiday somewhere in Europe, Not till next may.
But I have been putting in the details, self catering and they coming up over £200 per person! Thats before taxes and all sorts.

Just wondering if this is the norm now a days as last time I went abroad (6 yrs ago) we paid £179 for 7 nights all inclusive?

Only looking for a cheap 1st abroad holiday for my children and husband!

If you know where and when you want to go, lowcostholidays are good. You can choose your flight separately from the hotel and then narrow down on board/star rating etc.

Thank you :) found 4* for only £159 per person using that site
now just need to google if the Algarve is good for children.

Alternatively, if you can wait until next March, you could look to see what is available via your local budget airline and then use trip advisor to find accommodation.

Always check the cashback sites for links, when you have found what you want.

Sorry, my note was a bit garbled.
I meant that when you have found what you want, don't foget to check if you can get cashback by going through TopCashBack or Quidco; e.g. lowcostholidays have 7% cashback on accommodation. Look for vouchers as well.

Personally, I'd be careful booking through quido etc... If I went through Quidco to buy my last holiday, it put the price up by about £50! They're sneaky!

Ooh I see, thank you, I think I will need to do it this way, the £159 holidays I have found has turned into £1300 after all extras!

True....
............ and it's even worse with aiport parking! It's just worth checking once you have found what you want.

I find Portland Direct pretty good, they offer bigger discounts on holidays sold by the others in the same group.

Algarve should be fine for kids (no Maddy jokes please) but the sea might be a bit chilly

Quidco doesn't always help with some things e.g. insurance (the price goes up by the same as you'd save and it can take months to track). Never had a prob with airport parking though. Parking Express at Gatwick was the same price and paid quickly.

icelolly as you have found adds all extras later.

Depends how much time you want to spend looking but skyscanner.net for flights is a good place to start then accom from holidays.com or expedia after you have looked at reviews on tripadvisor.

It wont be hot enough for pools unless you're hardy! and the beach cool...unless you look at the canaries? also europe is expensive for food if you go sc so beware!
we always now go all inc and i have found next may school hols day flights £800 for 4 to turkey and all inc accom £800 fo 2 weeks. In my opinion works out less than shopping there and a good first hol!

Have a look at ulookubook.com. I haven't used them personally, but know people that have and they've had no problems.

Thank you all. Im just stumped looking, going round and round! Most sites that are cheap are not big names so scared they could go bust before we go on holiday.

Main one is bookableholidays.co.uk.

Don't be scared to print off any good deals and take them into Thomson or Thomas Cook...
I've had many a good deal be getting them to price match similar holidays.

Limits the going bust worries

most cheap places are not selling you a package in the traditional way-theyre booking you budget flights and the hotel and then may offer you a transfer. They actually take your card details and book the flights with say ryanair or easyjet and if you have to alter or need help you have to contact the airline as the selller cant as its in your name using your details ie they have not bought so many seats to sell on. I know this is the case with olaholidays.
So check skyscanner and have a play..dont be afraid to mix ailines ie thomas cook out and thomson back etc. Find a flight that suits you then use skyscanner to find accom?
then book direct with the airline yourself-monarch have a code for money off flights so check if there is any quidco or voucher off your chosen flights, then do same with accom?
I always do this way and we have had brilliant hols. I find most cheap packages are for a week and we like to go 2 weeks lol
I am not a travel agent but if you pm me i can have a quick look for you?
i need to know where you are flying from and max hours flight you will do?
