I've been looking for a new telly since Xmas & I can't make my mind up on what to get.
It needs to be at least 37" & no more than 42". I'll be mostly using it with sky+ (SD), but also with the PS3 for games & blu-ray. I've pretty much ruled out plasma as my kids tend to leave the ps3 or wii on for hours on end & I'd be afraid of getting screen burn.
Budget is about £800 but I'd be happy to spend less!
I was thinking of a samsung LE40a686 but the reviews say the speakers arent great on them & i don't fancy getting surround speakers as I don't want cables everywhere.
Also I'd rather stick to a reputable dealer rather than a fly by night internet retailer.
Any suggestions gratefully received.

You are more likely to get screen burn from TV channel logos (where the is a static image) than PS3 or Wii games (where the image is moving).

If you are wanting to watch HD and Blu-ray, go into a TV shop and get them to put the same image on the equivalent LCD and plasma TVs (e.g. Panasonic LCD & Panasonic plasma), and I bet you will change your mind about not wanting plasma ....

Don't write off Plasmas - the image they produce is nothing short of stunning. Even 1080p LCDs have a hard time doing what a 1366 x 768 Plasma panel can. They don't suffer from screen burn in any way like they used to, plus the average lifespan is now around 100,000 hours. go take a look as Cotterpin suggested - you won't be disappointed!
