Worth checking your electrics to make sure they're not causing it?

THank you

I've had this problem in my house for years. The electrics have been checked numerous times but for whatever reason normal bulbs just kept blowing. It was annoying as it would trip the fuseboard which is in a small basement.

We have since moved to LED lighting which initially was expensive but the problem is now gone.

Oddly enough though, when we had the problem the most reliable bulbs, (lasted the longest), were from poundland.

I was told bulbs blowing all the time you should report to your transit provider to investigate ie Power Networks UK or whoever it is near you, there's no charge.

Someone said they can put a filter on your incoming power line.

I'd also try buying LED based lights as supposed to last 15,000 hours (just bought some from b&q really nice & bright with great coverage. Keep the receipts if they don't get close to 15,000 hours take them back for replacement & keep doing so lol

1) Try using standard lamps and bedside lamps for lighting for a while. If they dont blow , then the fault
could be the lighting circuit or the lamp socket not the bulbs.

A surveyor told me once where he surveyed a house that the seller had rewired the house lighting with 3A bell wire and there was scorch marks along the joists!

2) Or you could try using " fork handles " LOL.

Filament light bulbs get brittle from the moment they are first used. It's the heat making it break. Any movement after it was turned on for the first time causes the life of bulb to shorten. That's why bed side lights don't last long. Answer. Buy warm white or cool white led bulbs. You can shake them and they will still work

I think you are right, we live near a railway live, trains always move around which makes these bulbs vibrate, not sure I can do anything about it at all ?

led gu10 bulbs are way better and last a lot longer, I had the same problem and replaced the bulbs with leds and haven't had to replace any at all

Switch to led bulbs. Amazon is the best place as you can get some with good reviews. Screwfix and toolstation also sell but will cost a little more, but they seem to only stock good bulbs.

My GU10 bulbs used to blow frequently until I bought some LED GU10's, 2 years and they're still working great, no failures etc..
