Where to buy sun cream abroad

Afternoon.
Jetting off to the Canaries next week and we are only taking hand luggage so can't buy our sun cream in advance like normal - just wondering if there's any where known to be cheap for getting it while we are out there or if it's likely to cost a small fortune whether we get it in the airport this side, that side or in a supermarket (Hypodinos if memory serves) over there.

Thanks.

The big supermarkets are the best bet. Will be cheaper than here actually. The local brands are just as good just check for the star ratings.

Don't buy any that are on outside display stands as they may have been there for months and can go stale sat in the hot sun.

Happy tanning!

It depends really , if you want a well known brand ie Ambre solaire then you pay well over the odds of what you pay here especially when you have shops like home bargains here that sell sun creams really cheap, tbh last year we opted to pay for one luggage case for this reason as when we totted up how much it would cost us once there for sun cream, shampoos/conditioner, showergel deodorant etc ( baring in mind we are a family of four so needed loads of sunscreen ) it would work out cheaper or if not the same and at least we knew what we was buying , swings and roundabouts I would say and depending on length of stay etc :)

What I do is plastic bag my sun cream and toiletries and carry them separately for security no one ever questions it so it doesn't count as part of my hand luggage allowance ;)

Just decant them into bottles from the pound shop you get a set of 5 for a quid

How do you manage that ?? you are not allowed any form of liquid etc over 100ml bottles through security , and they are very strict with it too .
just read your second comment about decanting into bottles , okay for a short break for a couple maybe but not for a family of 4 for 2 weeks .
So that may be ok for op but not us .

You can take 4 bags of toiletries and the only rules are 100 ml bottles max but you can have a 1000 ml per person more than enough for you all or at least enough for a couple of days till you get some the 5 bottles you get from the pound shop or primark includes spray bottles the sprays tend to last longer

Get down to the mercadona supermarket. You'll be sorted , happy sunbathing. 8)

As mentioned, go to Mercadona, all sun factors available at good prices - no dearer than home! I also check in local Pharmacy's because they often have special offers on the good upmarket brands! I always do this when in Tenerife and always travel with hand luggage - so much less hassle!

Go into Boots once you've gone through to the departure lounge. Also its the cheapest place for bottled water!

Have a look on TripAdvisor, and perhaps ask in the forum about your hotel - a lot of them have baskets that holidaymakers leave their unused suncream, shampoo etc in. I think most hotels with a Thomas Cook rep will have this - potentially save a fortune!

We buy the 100ml German Factor 50 sun creams from Poundworld - they're EU rated the same as the big brands, and have done the job perfectly for us over the past couple of years. I usually just cram one of our 4 plastic bags full and it's more than enough to do us over the holiday.
