I read somewhere on a football forum that you can buy the tickets from people near the ground in Italy. The writer told of this being quite common over there and the prices are around half the price of buying the tickets from the ground. I can't remember the details but it something to do with shareholders selling their free seat allowance(s). I think it may have been on the 606 link on here:-

It was a couple of months ago though when I saw it. Maybe someone on there will remember?

can anyone confirm buying tickets near the grounds?

I fear that buying tickets near the grounds will have the same outcome that happened to me whilst buying tickets at a Liverpool match. I purchased a ticket that got me into the grounds but ended up having to give my seat up to the original owners who had reported their tickets had been stolen. It seemed pretty shady, i'm pretty sure the 'original owners' had something to do with the whole scam. But anyways I lucked out and the usher was kind enough to find me a seat and they were decent seats beside the announcers.

Tickets for the Roma games are easy to get hold of, they hardly ever sell out. You should be able to buy from the ground the day before, prices are about 40 Euros upwards. This website seems to give a bit of advice, they are offering tickets at £42 for the "Curva Nord".
The official AS Roma website sends you to this site for tickets http://www.listicket.it/?lang=EN&S= although nothing is currently listed for April.

Make sure you pack a stab proof vest.
