hi guys,

im looking to spend around £400 incl vat & delivery on a laptop, which i would be happy to purchase online.

the laptop should have if possible the following spec.

core duo or similar proccessor
xp home or pro
1gb ram
60gb or more hdd
15 in screen
dvd rw
tv out etc

am i dreaming or will i be able to pick a laptop up for this price, is a refurbished item a good idea, because i would be willing to go that way if it is?

Cheers Dave

cheers jules i was looking for a 15 in screen but apart from that sounds good offer. are dell reliable mate? ive read various reveiws from pants to 9/10?
Doubt you coul get a core duo processor in a £400 laptop.

But if there is a PC World near to you check instore an ask the staff what XP laptops they have in stock. They have reduced all XP machines due to vista being released so you might pick up a bargain.
cheers bif a will have a look
Buy a Dell 1501 via http://www.dmxdimension.com/ .

The models at £353 and £388 delivered are best, 90 call and collect warranty and remaining 12 months as standard.

You'll have a job beating these prices and in my experience Dell customer service is now second to non.
cheers mate
My advice is to wait a few weeks as I'm expecting XP loaded laptops to take a dive in price when the free vista upgrade offers expire next month...as others have stated £400 will not get you a great deal in terms of spec but the base Dell that has been recommended may suffice..have you looked at todays HOT DEALS as there is a post by MikeT for Dell refurbs.
