Hi There. Its my 11th wedding anniversary on 14.02.15 and want to take the wife away for the weekend but remain in the UK (last years 10th anniversary was family trip to Dubai). Any recommendations with and without the kids (i have a 9 year old boy and 7 year old girl). I appreciate the weather is gonna be cold in Feb in the UK but any recommendations to a nice hotel with nice places to see / visit (maybe even a bit of shopping - but considering we live in London go shops all the time)

Not too expensive but dont want a really cheap place either. A nice hotel is paramount

any advice?

have a look at forest holidays or similar. nice and quiet with a hot tub with or without kids.
We go to aberdeen to the marriot every yesr. its £110 for the whole family b&b. Ask for a pool room and your patio doors open right onto the swimming pool! Saving you using changing rooms. Then order indoor wristbands for cadonas where you get two games of bowling, crazy golf, soft play etc. Cadonnas is at beach boulivard so has cinema and lots of the standard resteraaunts beside it. That can last all day! Next day head for the town centre whicj has 3 shopping centres with standard shops and a long high street with lots of independent shops! We go in Nov every year for our anniversary and family celebration!!!
My hubby recently took me to Warwick, we did the castle and shops and had a lovely time. Lots of lovely hotels.

Go to Padstow in Cornwall, some lovely cottages there, leave the kids. So open hot fire, lovely cottage, sea view, you are nice and warm and gorgeous restaurants nearby!
Forest of Dean is nice for a getaway :)
