Any of the Canaries ,very cheap and I suggest safer than Egypt (the way its going there) . 4hours flight time (same time zone as us ) so you get there and leave at reasonable times . Not at all expensive in winter on a par with Spain .

seems someone doesn't like Tenerife or someone doesn't like you (you got thumbed down for your good suggestion...pffft)

I reversed it ;)

Cyprus?:

December weather that is sunny but not hot makes this month ideal to see the cultural and historic sites. Outdoor activities, excursions and day trips to explore the island are very enjoyable. There are several cultural events throughout December as well.

In my experience Cyprus more expensive than Canaries and of course you have the time difference which means at least one flight will be in the middle of the night .

Look at packages to Canaries - Jet 2 do reasonable ones from East Midlands and I dare say there should be some deals from Stanstead .

it is more expensive, but you get what you pay for. i can't comment on the canaries, but i haven't heard great things from those who have. cyprus is lovely (although avoid ayah napa, it's full of teenagers)

the trouble isn't even in eilat, but yeah, things are kicking off there at the moment unforch, so may be best to avoid the whole region.
