24 bottles for £4 at home bargains (cristaline)

Speak to the manager of your local Asda . As you want a bulk buy I am sure with arm twisting you can get a better deal than £2.20 for 12. If its for a charity close to their heart might do even better

Asda and the likes will not sell him 2000 bottles of water. he wants that amount, he will have to GOTO a Cash And Carry as there is a limit they are allowed to sell any one individual.

If it's for a charity event, why not approach Nestle (for Buxton Water) direct and see if you can do a deal with their marketing people?

Try Makro if you can access a card

It might be worth keeping an eye out if time isn't a problem. In Tescos a few months ago I got 24 bottles for less that £3, they don't seem to have any offers like that at the moment but they might put them back on offer. I think they were Princes Gate spring water.

Thats not entirely true - i have purchased 800 burger buns from Asda before, with managers agreement for a charity BBQ.

We also purchased 50 crates of coke. (24cans * 50) = 1200

The exception i think is where they have special stock to support a promotion, or... the goods have a long lead time. As it was the chap ordered in special.

wrong Asda are very accommodating, when we want a large quantity of an item, we spoke to our local asda manager who not only arranged to get the stock in, but also gave us a discount, we did have to pay a deposit up front. We received excellent service.

Yes asda are very good for this sort of thing, I don't know if Tesco are also as helpful but they currently have 12 bottles of Iceni water for £1.49 which we were buying for our schools sports day.
Also check out if you have a JJ's Food service near you as they also have cheap waters which you can buy in bulk no problem :)

Asda were less than helpful when we wanted to buy 500 little 500ml bottles of coca cola for a massive works night we were having. So it must be your Asda or whomever you get to help you.

there are suppliers for events of that size.
why not call up someone who runs a local fun run and ask what they did?
I heard of a company called Water Direct who were involved in the sheffield half marathon debacle. in their defence, from what is in the public domain, it did sound like they were screwed over (don't know the full picture from both sides) and weren't culpable.

their moq for 500ml is 1872 bottles available next day if required, so they shouldn't be troubled by the size of your order
