Hi - i am looking for a recommendation for a 4k 49" TV. I have been advised to look at Sony & Samsung (not curved). I have seen the following models in Curry's (Samsung 49KU6470, Sony 49XD8077 & Sony 49XD8305) which are more than my budget but if somebody could convince me they are worth it i would part with the extra cash. I would use the TV for my PS4 and mainly watching Sport/Movies. Any recommendations would be gratefully received!!

Absolute honest opinion is neither Sony or Samsung but a hisense model which is a brilliant TV and the warranty speaks volumes for me.

Incidentally I haven't got a 4K TV but an LG full HD set which doesn't come close in overall functionality and user friendly interface as the Hisense.

Admittedly my TV is a couple of years old and technology advances fast but my Dad has just bought this unit from John Lewis when they were on offer a couple of weeks back at £499 ( £599 now ) and it's a fantastic TV with an amazing picture.

You might get fixed up here but you'll have to give them a call to check stock:

Currently looking for a 49" 4k HDR tv too. Budget of around £600. The hisenese are definitely great value for money but have been looking at the Sony XD80. I can get 12.5% off at John Lewis which should help stretch the budget. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

none, a waste of time on a TV that small, unless you're sitting within a couple of feet
be better off getting a highly rated 1080p

Except that there is no such thing.

If you want HDR then spend more or wait. Models around this price only have limited HDR display ability at the moment.

@HarryJames: I wouldn't go any lower on the Sony range, the W models sacrifice a fair bit. The Sony KU6000/6020 is a very similar TV to the 6400/6470 but with effectively no HDR display ability so that might be worth a look.

That price does seem to be worth looking at though, the LG UH770 and UH850, Panasonix DX700 and Philips 6561 are also notable jumps in quality over the next models down.

You could do a lot worse than this 49", just got mine and it's great, no HDR but at that price it's not going to.
