Look at the (released and announced) exclusive titles for each and make your decision primarily based on which selection you prefer from those - preferably after E3 if you want to be fully informed.

Whichever one matches best to these personal requirements

- Has most of your friends already on it or planning to go for it
- Has the best selection of games you actually want to play (both out now and upcoming)
- Has the controller you find most comfortable
- whichever has the features and services that you would want to use.

No point asking for opinion as very few actually own both and many will be fanboys here to say "Xbox/Playstation is *insert generic abusive terms* compared to my choice". You need to go with what YOU will get the best enjoyment out of. And do not let any halfwit suggest your choice is anything but the correct one for you.

whatever most of your friends have

I ultimately agree with Astec123, especially point 1 - if you want to play with your friends, get the same console they have. However...

It's generally agreed that PS4 is better for games, it has more fire-power, whether that actually makes a difference is yet to be seen though. The XBox One is generally better for multi-media use. If you want it to integrate with your TV viewing, it's ideal for this. You can play a game while watching TV in the corner of the screen, etc. and then speak to it to make the tv full screen. Great if you like to keep an eye on sports, etc.

You should also consider the cost of the network and the exclusive games for each platform.

I have an XBox One, but I'm certain I would be equally happy with a PS4, except most of my friends are on XBox.

It's very much a balancing act to work out which is best, more friends you know or more games you want. For me I'd always go with the games as it always seems my friends are busy so I'm often playing solo.

Good call. You can always get rid mid-year if you've played all the exclusives and fed up being Billy no-mates.

I often wonder how I'm ever going to get to play The Last Of Us. I think I'll have to borrow a PS4 at some point.

Cheap PS3. Sure to hit the under £100 mark new this year for a decent new one and I've already seen a few in decent condition second hand around the £50 mark.

Im a big street fighter fan myself and bought the xbox one before the exclusivity announcement. I honestly think it will make an appearance on the xbox one. They cant just drop us like that after how successful the xbox 360 version was. I live in hope.

But yeah OP follow your friends and exclusives you prefer. I chose the Xbox because of Halo and most my friends have one.

Street fighter wont be coming on x1 lol

Halo mcc terrible reviews. Lost fait with 343i. They screwed it up since halo 7. Halo 5 campaign will be 1080p and multiplayer 720p lol

Either go with where your friends are and miss out on the exclusives or go with the games and try and make some new friends on forums or whatever. I like the Xbox personally but many people prefer the PS4.

I opted for a PS4 this time round, fancied a change from the Xbox 360 the last round, and I'm really pleased with it. The Xbox One feels more of the same from what I've played, so it's comfortable if you want to stick with something you're familiar with, but I suppose the same could be said for the PS4 as the dash, from what I saw of the PS3 looks kinda similar too ha. But in addition to fancying a change, a few of my friends bought a PS4 as well, and at the end of the day, I want something I can play with my friends online. The upcoming games look more appealing than the Xbox's too in my opinion. Saying all that... I surprisingly play my Wii U the most ha. Can't beat a good game of Smash Bros or Mario Kart ha.

I bought both, the graphics on the ps4 look a tiny bit crisper and generally the PS4 gets alot more use than my xbox, although I do like the xbox's ability to show a small windowed T.V. On the same screen I am gaming on... (handy for keeping up with the football scores). I have to agree though with the idea of getting the same system as most of your friends use as being the best advice....
