Which Dell Laptop 2 Buy????

Hey evryone..

I am so confused what laptop to get....uni starts in 2 weeks and im in need to get something that will last me the 3 uni years and ontop i will b using it for internet alot and playing games and music download and maybe making music....maybe watch tele on it too and watch dvds etc...

I think I would need a good graphics...my friend tells me g4force something is the best..

That Zoostrum looks decent but its like buying a skoda with vw parts..has no brand appeal and no1 knows about build quality..

Basically can someone guide me to the deal that would suit me best...Don't want to spend money and regret my purchase like anyone else..

I was thinking of the Dell 6400 but my friends tell me theres no point because it is end lof line and parts and maintanance will be hard if something goes wrong..my sister has one form last year and shes happy but then i hear this vostro range is good...but then vista is not as good as XP....

All too much for someone who doesn't know much about the ins and outs and spec details to buy a hot top notch laptop...

Would appreciate some help if anyone is free...
would you get a better deal with Dell if you rang up or if you spoke via internet messenger or is it as it says on the site...

many thanks

p.s would it be better to get 17inch aswell and are there different types...tru life???

If you're really serious about playing games you're going to need to splash a bit of cash around really.

http://configure.euro.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?cs=ukdhs1&kc=UKBSDONL&oc=N0915003&x=6&y=7

Thats a pretty great deal for a dedicated graphics card, santa rosa chipset.
I'd upgrade to the 1440x900 screen at least if I was going to be playing lots of games. With the better resolution screen it should cost £634.57 before quidco.

You can get XP on that vostro by the way.

how about without the warranty add and lil modification for this price....

You need to tell us your top price limit and if you want 17" or less screen.

hmmmm well 17inch wud b better as b more handy for dvd watchin ....bin on the dell outlet site but everything changes so fast..like the 100metres race...i would like to keepit at about 500 squidz...luv to make a saving like you did ...

overall has to be at leats 15.4 screen but if i can get 17inch b brill price tops 550pounds

uno what would be very handy is if you give me a spec that i should stick to and then i could hava nash at checkin the dell outlet site....wha ou think?
[mod]#6
I doubt you will find what you want on the outlet, machines with graphics go very quickly and I dont think there have been any Vostro notebooks there yet, so limiting your choice to Inspirons.

Go to www.quidco.co.uk for details on how that works, its a cashback site.

Price for this laptop is based on you reducing the warranty to minimum (1yr) Go for Vista, you can always instal xp for now if you really dont like vista then put it back later as you wish. Dell XP discs are not hard to come by.
You cant look at previous deals and compare as they have gone now, spilt milk....

Mike.. why don't u work for dell, and then we'll all call in as unsatisfied customers and you can apply some voucher codes to our deals :P lol

But on a serious note, im a student I need a laptop in a month. The Vostro range looks gd. And I was very tempted by the dual core one you posted for 317. Now.. whats the chances of me getting it slightly cheaper/better machine if I was to call in to cancel few days after the order was placed?

Zak.

First line of the spec.... N0915003

You will need to put something in the first box though so use 305-N0915003
The N09 bit goes in the second box.

Yeah thanks MikeT. I had a look at a few others and figured it out eventually. I ordered it in the end with a few extras and got a good deal over the phone. Now its just the long wait! Once again MikeT comes up trumps.

Very nice deal Mike's got there (unsurprisingly), especially getting the 8600 for under 600.

I changed vista business to vista home premium, got a travel remote, optical mouse and carry case. Overall i paid £676. I think the trick is to phone them up instead of doing it online and then haggle for what you want.
