Hello in my work we have a couple of deleted desktop lines that I can get a decent amount of discount off.
These being;

A Medion 4066
And a Medion 2061

Both seem to have the ups and downs but I can't really work out which one would be "better"

I'm just a regular PC user, do work on it from time to time, play the odd few games, and download movies quite a bit, along with just the general web surfing.

I'm just curious which one would be better, my reasoning for wanting a new desktop is because my current laptop is a bit of a pain, doesn't respond quite often and can't be bothered to upgrade it.

Any positives and weaknesses of the two would be appreciated or if you can come up with a similar or ideally better model for £200-£250 then that would be appreciated!

The specs would be useful. They're no longer on the medion website and listings elsewhere seem patchy.

Hey I found the specs but it's just through a couple ebay links if that's cool.

Medion 2061:

Medion 4066:

Just check out the description and item specifics for full specs :)

Thanks a lot pal

Get the cheaper one.
i3 has better CPU but AMD has better graphics but for day to day usage go for the cheaper one.

If the price is the same, go for the intel.

Hey nacho any reasoning why the i3 is quicker compared to the AMD?

Just the AMD said it can be booster to a 4.1ghz compared to the 3.4ghz of the i3, is this just a gimmick or as a general rule are i3s just quicker?

I've had both AMD and Intel CPU's and don't mind either.
This link gives an indicator of CPU performance.
The onboard graphics are a little better on the AMD but with more RAM, bigger disk and faster CPU (on average) I would go for the Intel but there it does come to the price difference too.

Yeah I understand now, thanks for the help pal

They're two different designs, comparing the clock speed doesn't make any sense because they excel in different areas.

The i3 is faster in floating point CPU workloads, a similar speed in integer CPU workloads, slower in gaming-type GPU workloads (and probably others, although they're not frequently benchmarked) and consumes less power.

Passmark isn't ideal for comparing such different designs as it hides much of the complexity. If you look at a full review that compared them in a variety of applications you'll get an idea where each design excels.

I would also go for the i3 because, generally speaking, CPU workload is the more important and it's a substantially more power efficient chip.

Again thanks for the well structured reply

Out of curiosity do you know of any other laptop/desktop that is of similar spec for £200-£250? I mean it's unlikely but possible I guess ahaha
