As above, please?

My Mum is on 3 and just needs to make a few calls and texts, not many, though - trying to find which network would be best for her?

Also, which networks can you just top-up £5 if you like?

Thank yous x

Got to be Asda mobile, 8p per minute to all mobile networks and landlines (well, in UK), 4p per text and you can top up £5.

My parents recently joined Tesco Mobile, with pay as you go sims. They are really impressed with the call and text costs. Like your mum, they only make occassional calls and texts. I don't know the prices, but recommend that you check them out.

Tesco on the Lite tariff is the same cost as Asda for txt and calls (4p / 8p), web access is still more than Asda though. As a bit of a loophole, when you need to top up, buy a £5 SIM with free delivery, which comes with £10 credit, then use the Ping a Pound service to ping the £10 credit across to your main SIM. (a bit of a faff to setup initially, then just requires 10 free calls to 2703 over 10 days and you have £10 balance for £5). So then you are effectively on 2p per text and 4p/min calls...

All is explained here. Seems a good idea if it all works okay.

I guess your mum isn't going to be surfing the net via GPRS much, but if she did Asda is 20p/MB and Tesco £4/MB. Unlikely to be important though?
