Hi, I have had sky broadband for a year with free McAfee Security Suite installed. It has now expired and they have emailed me with an offer of £33.49 for another year...

What do you suggest I do... overall McAfee has worked fine on my PC with nil problems for a year and offered full protection...

Open to your thoughts...

Thanks

I've been using for about 12 months or so zone alarm security suite, which is anti virus and firewall built in, and it's superb, get nice little pop ups, blocks spy sites, and is unintrusive summat norton isn't. I use spybot and adaware too

For most home users there is no need to spend anything on PC security.

Vista has more in built security than XP so if you are using Vista see what comes with that.

As others have mentioned, I also use various free software packages.

AVG for anti-virus

Zone Alarm for Firewall

Adaware for malware/spyware

WinPatrol for monitoring my PC and making sure nobody changes any setting or installs any software without me knowing about it. In fact WinPatrol is a GREAT little program that everyone should run.

even tho you could go get another program for free etc, why fix something that isn't broke. if you like mcafee and has done a great job buy another year, but look in places like pc world and you may be able to buy a year's worth for cheaper.

Theres been some good deals on Kaspersky recently , there was a code going around the other day for a good percentage off , I got a years worth of Kaspersky 7 for 3 licences for only £9.99 . Damn good anti-virus program too.

Without a doubt the best protection money can buy for your PC, 3 hourly updates, scans faster, detects + removes more than any other. I used to know some malware creators and the hardest AV engine to pass through was KAV/KIS even using private UPX packers made no difference.
