Advice on which tablet to get.

It's to replace kindle fire 2015 7 tablet for a child.

Looking for something bigger than 7inch as watches films on it and plays games.

Prefer not to go for another kindle as want to be able to use google play. Plus even though have 16GB memory card storage is always low even though set to store on card.

Budget is around £120

Rather avoid eBay as have previously brought tablet from there and lasted about 3months.
I've read some of the threads on tablet but non the wiser.

So can anyone suggest.

it's fairly easy to add play store on a Kindle fire. using all your storage isn't limited to kindles, though you may mean it's always low on memory rather than storage.

I'm a bit clueless, thought I had to root it to add googleplay which bound to mess up. Plus when it needs charging have to hold it in with bluetac

Not clued up techno wise, it just always low on storage internal storage is at moment 97gb and yet memory card has 26.70GB free, everything is set to download and store on SD card. I do delete cache etc

Check ebay homepage. They have a discount for Argos ebay and this is virtually the same as buying from Argos, provide decent warranty etc but good prices and now with 10% discount code using CEBAYARGOS.

I used this link for no root no PC to add play store : http://blog.the-ebook-reader.com/2016/07/02/how-to-install-google-play-on-fire-tablets-the-super-easy-way-no-pc-or-root/

With regards memory storage, this is what always annoys me about manufacturers selling "memory sticks" which are storage and nor memory, thereby confusing those who are less techy.

the 26.7gb free is on your "memory stick" so that's not memory. when it says it's low on storage it means it's low on memory, which is due to how many concurrent apps you have installed. 1gb is a bit low and fills up quickly, especially if you keep installing apps and not uninstalling the ones you don't actually use.

erm, so having said all that, many people will say 2gb memory is a minimum these days, with storage being fluff (unless you store lots of video). again this applies to tablets in general, not just Kindle fires

Thanks I will have a look at the link although not sure how long the gluetac holding charger in is going to last. Its my childs tablet so downloads a lot of which I think are crap games and I'm forever deleting them. Even kindle own apps.

Thanks again for help

I bought a hudl which is well known for bad charging port. I replaced it but it only lasted a few days before it was back to fiddling with wire to get it charged.

once it became almost impossible to get a connection I used epoxy glue and held it at an angle which caused a connection while the glue dried. it's a mess but at least it charges :)

Hi there. I would say you should look in cex for hudl 2 grade a tablet. Will come with brilliant spec and 24mths warranty on top of it.

Avoid the Hudl. It's unsupported, Tesco has shut the department responsible for it. Also known to have issues. It's also a little dated by now.

argos has a Samsung galaxy tab e 9.7 for £130 I believe. you will get £10 voucher back to spend in argos also.

I appreciate everyone taking the time to reply, this is such a minefield especially when one person suggest something and then someone advises not.

Thanks Matthew I was just about to ask about Samsung

i think this is also available at tesco for £123 ish, storage is expandable with a Sd card. for £120 price range in my opinion this is probably as good as it gets.( I could be wrong, I am sure someone will say if I am) ;)
