Looking to move my trusty Mondeo on (after 9 years) & get something a bit bigger to house my lanky girls.

A 7 seater would be useful for carting the kids friends, grandparents etc etc around.

Looking to spend up to about £6k.

As you can tell by my Mondeo I keep cars for a long time so not bothered about depreciation as I'll run it for long enough that depreciation wont be an issue.

Any advice appreciated.

Not too much help, but I have an old galaxy which is an r reg and still going strong, plenty of space and options for moving seats about too. The newer shape ones look nice too

Quite a mediocre selection in the MPV sector, but the stand out car seems to be the Ford Focus C Max.

Gets 4 out of 5 at What Car Reviews (Most MPVs get 2 or 3) and there's some reasonable models like this 3 year old 2.0L available for under £6K:

Reliable, and as you'll know with your Mondeo, pretty cheap to run and maintain.

C Max does look nice but only has 5 seats (I believe).

I cruise around in a Delica, not quite run of the mill but fun to drive and I put a drop of veggi oil in mine to help keep the running costs down. 7 seats and leg room, looks a bit different.

Certainly look different. After a quick look I cant see any for sale up in my neck of Scotland.

There seems to be quite a few Zafiras kicking about - Anyone had experiance of these?

I had a diesel Citroen Synergie for best part of 10 years and over 100k miles. Most practical (not most exciting!) car I've ever owned. Only got rid of it because the rear two seats hadn't been used for over a year! If you can find either a Synergie (or Peugeot 806) or a C8 that hasn't been used as a taxi, it's worth looking at. Incredibly roomy inside.

I have a 1.6 tdci lx c-max and have owned it for 4rys now and it has been amazing and would highly recommend.

Not sure when they stared making them but the 1.8 style to me is the best model for the money in my opinion

I have a 1996 Toyota Previa, seats 8 and still has a full size boot. It has only done 70k miles so just about run in. Only downside is 1 sliding door and 25mpg. Newer ones have two doors. Would love to get one of these or maybe a Grand Chrysler Voyager.

Up near Aberdeen.

I'd prefer a wee sporty 2 seater but kids.............

Is the Zafira Bussy?

we had one of these and found it awful on country roads. higher spec inside and storage. steering can be a problem and ours had wheel alignment fixed every few months as got terrible steering shake.saved for a landy and glad i did. anything else as far as i am considered.

why dont you ask some local taxi drivers what they recommend, my dad always did that when he was looking for another car.

I second that. Have a W reg hdi engined Synergie and done 145000, but it runs like new. Good mpg for the size, too.

Driving position & space great ...just everyone calls on you when they need a lift or a trip to the tip with rubbish as you can fit almost anything in it!
