I always use Thomas cook website cos the price that comes up in the screen is always competitive AND is the price you pay..i.e. you dont see a £200 holiday and then end up at the final screen with it adding fuel suppliments and under occupancy tariffs etc etc.. and telling you its really £477 each like almost ALL other websites...plus you get quidco!!

but always ring up everywhere after you have found the best deal.....and when they ask you for your best price....knock £50 off and tell them that....they will still tell you what they can offer and will always try and take it to their manager, if not....nothing lost.

Once you have found the holiday you want also give your local travel agent a call, the cheapest prices are not always online high street agents can generally beat the online prices

Does anyone ever use lastminute.com to book package holidays?

www.otbeach.com I find is pretty good. Went with them last year and no problems whatsoever.

It would be great to hear some feedback concerning lastminute.com as I have seen an Egypt holiday with them and have only booked hotels with them in the past.

We're not very good at pre-booking although we should to take advantage of the free child places. We normally book last minute with someone like Direct Holidays as they still have them as named propertys even when you are last minute booking.

We also always go on Holidays Uncovered to see if anyone has posted a comment about the place/hotel.

Good luck finding a great holiday

Not so for me - Booked a late deal - (collect tickets at airport etc.). 3 days before departure they called to say they'd booked the hotel for the wrong week! (At least they spotted it before we flew out & they refunded my money quickly enough).

I then tried booking a cheap deal through Cosmos online - the web page crashed as I booked & when I phoned they said no booking had gone through & the holiday wasn't available anymore. On the morning I eventually flew out on holiday I got a letter from Cosmos confirming the booking they said hadn't gone through!

I'm a little wary of online booking now ;-)

I ended up booking through Thomas Cook - I phoned & they gave the online prices and actually confirmed all the details before taking my money:)
