Hello Members,

So I recently purchased some decking from wickes thinking that it was 3 for 2 as their current radio advert tells us but on their website it states 4 for 3. I contacted wickes to clarify what the current deal is & i was told 4 for 3, I trusted them and assumed that i must have misheard the radio advert. I hance bought the decking then this morning i heard the same radio advert claiming the deal to be 3 for 2 ????

Do i have any recourse with wickes or is it simply put own to a mistake on their part ?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Dave

I would voice record the advert next time its on and go into store with your proof of purchase demanding a refund and £200 to spend at B&Q for wasting your time ;)

Advertisements are usually invitations to treat, which allows sellers to refuse to sell products at prices mistakenly marked.

does the add have a quickly read tagline that says *certain lines only or some products not included?

Wickes will have to take responsibility for false advertising. I would seek second opinion from Trading Standards, or Citizens Advice. I'm sure the fault has come from the radio company. I do remember last November one radio station I was listening to was advertising Argos deals for Black Friday. However, this radio advert kept playing up until Christmas, even though the deals had changed. As I never purchase anything from Argos I didn't bother to pursue.

It was 3 for 2 only until a couple of days ago online.
But at least they have increased their prices to compensate for the 10% off code flirt

go to customer service and ask if they could offer you the radio offer, which means you will need to bring some back.

Thanks for all the replies, Just got to decide if it's worth the hassle i would only get about £20 quid back if i succeed, was mainly just curious.

guess depends on how difficult it is to bring the stuff back for the £20. retailers do not have to keep to their sale promises as under law, it is only invitation, which they can withdraw.

most reputable retailers will honour mistakes, as we have sometimes seen with misprice deals on hudk, so always worth asking in these cases if you feel the effort worth while.

Yes i'd complain.

It may only be £20 however how much extra is that for the company if lots of people missed the error.

I have always said "Would you argue a 1p (2p, 5p, 10p or more) error on your electricity/gas bill?"

Most wouldn't as its too much hassle and thats if you notice. But if you multiplied that 1p (2p, 5p, 10p or more) by the number of customers, every month. The company would rake in a lot of extra revenue that they didn't have the right to.

Hi Dave,

We're sorry for any confusion or inconvenience this has caused you. Can you please send us a PM or email customerservices@ wickes.co.uk with your order details (order number, address & postcode) or a copy of your receipt if these were purchased in store and we'll be happy to look into this further for you.

Kind Regards,

Alan
