Just soft-mod it. It's easy, takes about an hour, and the £30 you'll spend on the modchip and tools is well better spent on an ext harddrive to install all your games to.

The hardest bit of soft mod is getting the required game at a reasonable price.

Hope you don't mind me asking a question of my own if there any experts out there. We have a soft modded Wii and our children have been bought a genuine version of Just Dance 4 which seeks an update. Is there any way to get this game working without messing up the soft modding, or do we have to just accept we can only play genuine new games or soft mod, not both. Hope that makes sense.

Wii hacks has a game section, you'll be able to find out what to update on there, they'll normally give you just the one file that needs doing.

Thanks dcx. I am a bit of a novice with this. I have had a look and WOW is it a busy site. Is the link below the correct place where I should pose the question, or are you saying that there is a different part of the site where I should find the answer or pose the question? Can you provide a link if I should be looking elsewhere? Sorry to be a pain but thanks in advance if you can help further.

Try turning the Wii off & holding the rest button down while you turn it back on. If you have priiloader installed it should start & you can disable disc & online updates meaning you can play retail discs without it updating.
