So I've made my own retro console from a Raspberry Pi. It's great, but it's given me a thirst for more, newer Mario!

My question is whether getting a Wii U and buying the Mario games from the Virtual Console is a stupid thing? I know with the Wii, if you bought a virtual game, then reset your console, your purchase was lost forever. Is it the same with the Wii U? I'd probably mainly have the NES/SNES games first before buying and playing a Wii U game.

I've heard lots of negative stuff about the Wii U so I am bit wary, but at the same time, current gen Mario does look great!

Advice please! Thank you.

If you're talking about buying wii u Mario games on virtual console, its cheaper, a lot cheaper in many cases, to buy the physical copy! Btw the wii u is brilliant, well worth the money, in my opinion that is!

I meant the classic Mario games :) Although, from what I hear all the old classics are £5.49 each?!

The classics fair enough but as for the Mario games being remakes, mario games are Mario games (they all kinda go the same way) but I've never heard anyone describe them as remakes before, they definitely don't disappoint!

I'm pretty sure your virtual console games are locked to your nintendo account and you can re-download the game at any time. Wii U is probably the cheapest way to emulate the newer Mario games as you need a reasonable PC to play Wii/Wii U games.

I have loads of these virtual console games, annoying how they don't remaster or even make them 16:9 now! I usually get them when on offer or get a cheap Nintendo e card online. I play most on the game pad screen to be fair. You have to remap buttons on some games because they just don't work like they did on the nes playing on new game pad
