Win 7 Home Premium

I have installed Win 7 on a second computer after I had to do a clean install on my laptop (because sky told me I had to by the way eventhough my laptop didnt come with the original operating sys disc)!

I obviously need another key to activate the copy, so my question is can anyone recommend the best site to buy Win 7 from at a reasonable price. Dont want the upgrade version as I dont think it will work, need the 32bit ver aswell.

My son is a student at college and I have thought about trying to get a discounted student version but the college are useless with these matters and they cant confirm he has an email address with them, also the student products I have looked at so far all seem to be for the upgrade versions rather than the full one.

Any help guys is much appreciated.

Why "sky" (I assume you are on Sky Broadband).

If so dont always believe any helpdesk that says you have to reinstall Windows. That is an easy answer for any help desk that has run out of ideas.

No laptops or computers come with the original Windows operating system disks nowadays, but every laptop will have the ability to reinstal Windows, either via a recovery partition or via recovery disks.

So check the documentation that came with the laptop to see how to do a Windows recovery.

why would sky tell you to reinstall?

Sky suspended the broadband because they said that one of our computers (we have 3) must have a virus which was sending out bulk emails. Acording to them no avs would remove it and it could only be solved by wiping all three computers completely and they would not reinstate my broadband until they were all reformatted!.

The laptop was bought 2nd hand from a friend and did not come with any discs at all so I have used my sons Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit disc but only have 30 days to activate which runs out in the next few days.

Buy it from software4students, the upgrade version works fine with a quick workaround.

What is the quick work around?
