hi eldest looking for windows 7 for her new build. whats the best out there for it. no previous ops on system or available to use. thx.

Try software for students, very cheap, we bought son it i think for £47 ish.its £39 now.

i thought that was only for an upgrade. no os in the pc as all the bits except the case new???

Just buy the upgrade student one, I did. There's loads if ways to do a clean install with the upgrade one, just google how.Takes seconds to do.

if you come across an easy one, can you pm me link and will give it a go, once i get a copy bought.
still waiting on a few bits need to get this wk. like hdd. been too broke so far.

1) Install Windows 7 without a cd key, make sure you install the one that matches the version you've bought, after it's all started up and ready, save this file:
MediaBootInstall.reg
2) Just double click it and click yes to merge it, might have to click allow in the stupid UAC.
3) Open command prompt as an admin (type cmd in the box in the start menu, right click cmd.exe at the top and select run as admin).
4) type in (or copy and paste, you need to right click and chose paste in the box) the following:

slmgr -rearm

5) reboot PC
6) Run the Activate Windows utility (accessible from bottom section of Control Panel -> System and Security -> System, or type Activate Windows into Start Search), type in the upgrade product key and activate Windows.

Workaround 3 (the most reliable), super easy to do and takes under 5 mins.
