Hi All, need to get a win xp home license asap. Anyone know the cheapest way to get one?
basically have got myself an asus Eepc and intalled by oem version from my desktop... 30 day activation has reared its head, and I need a code. I have seen decent deals on OS in the past on here, and wonered if anyone had anything current.
Thanks.

Sounds good.. only problem is with Xp the version is activated online..asaik you cn only register one key with each PC.. so.. the dead pc will have registered the code already.

Planning on taking this laptop away with us.. and only got 6 days to fix it..!

c what happens if u try and activate cause u usally get 3 attempts to activate xp software wheras vista you have 1 chance. Other wise there arte tools on net that can get round activation on xp

Yes as stated you effectively get 3 chances with XP, so its worth doing, it does work I do it all the time.

If it wont activate, call to activate it and if they ask if you changed the hardware, just say you changed the graphics card because the last one died. Usually works for me.

well if you have done that the people at microsoft must be very thick as replacing a graphics card doesn't affect the system apart from having to install it. If you wanna try this approach you say you have changed the hard drive as this contains the operating system and is more plasable that you need to re-activate it

not at all, if you change the graphics card after reinstallation, it doesnt affect the activation at all, you have to reinstall occasionally (once every 6 months for me) and if you change the hardware during that time, the next time you reactivate it, it wont work, so you have to call up for them to give you an activation code.
Hard drives vary rarely affect the activation.

Just tell them you changed the mobo because the last one died. Thats what i do and it works everytime. I have 3 keys here and only one pc
