 Hello fellow hukds,

I have had to reload my other computer and I cannot find my window xp validation key. Has anyone got a key that I could use? I would be extremely grateful for any help.

Thankyou in advance.

Surely this breaks some rules of this forum!!! You can't request windows keys just because you say "You lost your key!". Go out and buy a proper copy of vista or xp! Use this forum to find a good deal on either OS. This forum is not here to illegally give out xp keys!

Microsoft

Should it not be on the side of the computer case on a sticker??

I have heard stories of Microsoft simply giving out new keys over the phone when the customer claims they have lost their key.

Yep just buy a copy of windows XP. For advice probably the best option is to go for Media Center 2005. I think this is really cheap at the mo from most places and you get the added benefits of Media Center. Vista is the other option and doesnt cost much more. Be warned though Vista is very buggy at the moment! Hope that helps.

as said before there should be a sticker on the back of the computer case with it on if it is a pre built system(dell etc).

Is the computer totally knackered?

If not you can download this freeware program which will display all windows products and the activation key. Anyone else reading this thread who hasnt got their activation keys or is afraid of losing them then this will enable you to print off a seperate sheet with all your keys which you can keep in a safe place.

Most computer manufacturers put the sticker with the Key on the case somewhere.

Failing that, there's nothing illegal about doing a google search...

Yes, it does break the forum rules. It's the same as asking for stolen property.

Your XP code should be on the machine itself, or else on the paperwork that came with your PC.

Why would you need a validation key?

Do you mean a registration key?
#13
Sounds like you have 2 computers?
If it's your "other" computer and assuming that your current computer is the same version of XP (Home/Pro and OEM/Retail) then you could use the key from your current PC?

Presumably you registered with windows (as I believe that is compulsary). Just phone them up, tell them your name and address (that you registered with) and they will tell you your key. Simple.

You have PM.
