Anything apart from a LINKSYS because mine has just stopped working for no apparent reason (only had it a couple of months) bought it off Amazon.

I miss having a wireless network, mainly just for surfing the internet on my laptop from the comfort of my sofa.

Any deals out there ? Might pop to Staples after work.

Just bought a Belkin router from PC World and it is absolutely brilliant !!

An absolute doddle to setup, very simple and easy to understand. Would recommend to anyone.

Cheers :santa:

I got a Linksys ADSL router (speedbooster) with USB adaper too for £50 from PC World. They have a half price sale on some items.....

Linked it via wire to my 360, and have my PC upstairs wireless (with USB adapter), Wii wireless (built in) & Laptop wireless (built in).

It's fantastic !

Hi!

Getting a Wireless router after Christmas and need some advice. This will be for a Lap Top (not blue tooth / wi fi) and a desktop that will be in the same room as the Router and telelphone line (upstairs). Also, I want to put my Wii on it which will be downstairts.

What would you recommend as the best solution???

Thanks.

See above post

Pc can be wired up to router & you can use the USB adaper for your laptop anywhere in the house, plus the Wii has wireless built in !

Cheers mate - sounds perfect!

ps - that is ADSL.

If your on cable, you will need a DSL router

I have BT Broadband (changing to Sky next year) so I am guessing that I will need the ADSL Router.

I've had a lot of problems with my Belkin router freezing. This seems to happen if you use P2P software to download a lot, which i do. This seems to prevent your internet pages opening up until you restart the router. I found i had to do this every day at some point. I've upgraded my firmware but maybe it's just my router. Netgear seems to be the best choice for overall use.

Sounds like NAT table problem. I am not familiar with Belkin routers, but is there way to decrease lifetime of NAT table entries on it?

Could always have a look on www.digidave.co.uk

the items are usuallay reconditioned but this is sometimes a good thing.

I got my Netgear Super G DG834GT 108 Mbps from his ebay shope for £34 including delivery and it has never let me down.

Think they usually cost £75+ for that model but think i was just lucky.

HAs plenty of routers though for good prices.

I agree with Redwarfposse5. I had a belkin and it also played up repeatedly with connection problems. Could have been same problem. Had to return it to pcworld for refund.

I'm after a replacement now and also seem to think netgear looks good.

I will be using it with 2 laptops for wireless internet conection and also with a wireless printer.

Any recommendations as to which netgear i need and a good price please?

Much appreciated in advance.

hmmm ive used netgear, had problems with that, returned and went for belkin which I must say is the best one I've had. Both of them were the top range items at the time of purchase.

I previously used a 3com modem/router before I changed to sky, who supply you with a netgear one.

I've had no problems with either one (only sky themselves!! :viking: ).
