Hi,

Can someone please recommend a wireless router for a 2mb NTL connection.

I would prefer to get one soon if there are good cheap ones I can pick up from stores like Tesco, Pcworld, Comet, Currys, Argos or otherwise I will just wait for the best online deals as most of the best offers are online.

I have a £4 voucher off £40 spend at the moment from Argos.

Thanks

WHy not upgrade to 4mb for one month, get the router free from NTL and then downgrade again? Can't see that being a problem.

Thanks Duffman,

I didn’t know you could downgrade after only one month – Are you sure you can do this?

Which router will they give you with the 4mb and what’s it worth?

NTL came round earlier to set up the broadband therefore can I still go to 4mb broadband and qualify for a free router?

Thanks for your help

Foxy,

No, you probably won't they arn't touting it as much as they possibly should. I'm pretty sure that you can upgrade and downgrade as often as you like. I would suggest upgrading one day and calling about the router another. It might be worth checking with NTL themselves to see if they lock you onto a specific tariff for any length of time after getting their router free.

I don't know much about it really, I read about it on http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=75&page=2&sort=lastpost&order=&pp=30&daysprune=30 forums under NTL BB. The router is a Netgear one the same as most companies offer for free (AOL and Sky defintely) I believe.

If you go on there loads of people will be able to help you with the full details. But be aware of NTL's habit of being slow on the uptake....

Anyway, I hope this helps. It's got to be worth looking into. I would have done it myself but only recently bought a new router.
