Hi guys as I get older I'm now getting bored of FPS etc. I've been wanting a good single player game I can sink hundreds of hours into such as the games I mentioned. I've never played either so need a little advice on which I should get. I'd prefer an answer from someone who has played both if possible. I don't want to research into them as I want to avoid any spoilers. I'll probably end up getting the one I don't get after I have completed the one I do. So what should I get first? I'll probably go with whatever is mentioned more. Thanks in advance people. I play on xb1 (if that's even relevant)

The Witcher 3. Easily the best open world game ever created with hundreds and hundreds of hours of questing.

Yes the witcher 3 edges Skyrim for me also, but Zelda BOTW matches it for best open world ever

I personally enjoy playing Skyrim better, I've got both on the Xbox one. My Witcher 3 GOTY edition has hardly been touched.

If you have played and enjoyed Oblivion then I'd say go with Skyrim. Also Witcher 3 doesn't have first person mode (unless there's a mod out, which I'm not certain of).

Witcher 3 all day long, best rpg in years.

Storylines In the Witcher 3 are easily some of the best in video games of all time, that includes the side quests. The Skyrim ones are OK but get a little dull and repeating.

Never enjoyed The Witcher 3... Skyrim was more fun.

It just seemed like an overly convoluted version of Shadow of Mordor.

The world was pretty nice though.

Persona 5 is probably the RPG I've ever played.

Personally I preferred Dragon Age Inquisition over both , but Witcher 3 wins over Skyrim just due to its sheer size and story , only thing that lets it down for me is it's menu system , you won't go wrong with any of them though

Witcher 3. Then do skyrim next year X)

The Witcher 3 all day long. Skyrim is ok but it's a 6 year old game from last gen consoles that's been re-released with the same issues as when it was first released. If you want a true current gen experience that you can sink around 200 hours or more into, that looks absolutely gorgeous with a fantastic story and superb levelling system then you need to get the witcher 3 GOTY edition. It's the best game of this generation in my opinion

Witcher 3 is one of the best games ever made.

Both games are brilliant you won't be disappointed with either. Elder scrolls online is a great game also and very cheap these days

fallout 4 is good , i have not played witcher 3 so cant comment on that it never looked appealing coz he had a sword
#13
Witcher 3

Get both - getting back into Skyrim at the moment and need to sink in some more hours to Witcher 3. Yes Skyrim is older but still looks amazing. Both games are worthy of your cash.

They are both good, for the witcher try and get the game of the year edition, maybe wait to see if it's on a xbox live sale, same for skyrim wait for a sale on it, if you're going to get both any way in the future

Witcher 3 without a doubt. Straight classic

I've finished both games in the past year and I enjoyed The Witcher 3 more. There are more unique quests throughout, a lot of side missions are more interesting than the main story and there is plenty of humour and Easter eggs to be wandered upon.

I really liked Skyrim but after a while it turns into a fetch item then bring back game. Someone once said something to me when comparing these two games so I'll repeat it here. If you like to explore and discover things then go play Skyrim, if you are more of a story driven person then go for The Witcher 3.

Skyrim as the wicher 3's combat is wonky to me but youtube videos as they are both great games.

all good adventures listed so far, also consider Dark Souls 3, it`s not the same style of rpg but i have the most hours played in that by far.

Skyrim is great, witcher 3 is great.

Best thing about Skyrim is the mods but not sure if there are as many as on the PC version, it's also a bigger feeling of freedom and openness out of the two. Witcher 3 is great just the way it is and one of the best for story/voice acting on top, plus it has gwent which is a great little card game (soon to be appearing as a stand alone, multiplayer version due to popularity).

If I was only picking one, I'd go for witcher 3.

Either way you will be playing a great game, so enjoy! :)

Because Skyrims combat is so much better right X)

The Witcher 3 is fantastic. 100+ hours in and still have lots to do including the dlc. Get the game of the year edition.
#23
Thanks everyone for all the input, going to go with witcher 3 GOTY then skyrim once completed. Thanks again people :)

IMO the witcher 3 is way better than skyrim ever was (unless you enjoy glitch jumping up mountains)
Witcher 3 has better combat ,still not great but much better than skyrim
Witcher has a better world with a lot of wildlife and feels living Whereas skyrim has a lot of mountains that are painfull to glitch up and stuff tends to happen only in towns
Witcher has MUCH better characters and interesting quests (the whole Barron quest is my personal favourite) and a decent sense of humour whereas skyrim characters are all kinda dead manikins and most of the quests I found boring .
Both have a horrible loot system (that requires taking trip after trip to the same place to pick up all the loot , because of weight limits) and shops with limited money

Skyrim and Witcher are both exceptional games but play quite differently. Skyrim gives you more ways to play, allows you to sneak through dungeons use solely magic or hack and slash your way through the game, story is all right but nothing special but the exploration is what truly sells Skyrim. Witcher, my personal favorite game of all time, great story, great characters, great gameplay and the World it's set in is immense, only slight issue and it is slight is that Witcher is based on books and has 2 previous games so there is some back story to it that can at times leave you having no idea why the person your talking to knows you so well.

I would say skyrim, it's without a doubt it's one of the best first person open world games. if you ever liked the fallout series then skyrim is a must. it will take ages to 100% as there is just too much to do, I would highly advise to use use mods tho

*I ment don't use mods
