Parking around the Ricoh is a nightmare and there's an exclusion zone around the stadium to stop parking on the streets on match days. You'll struggle to find somewhere to park for free unless you want a long walk or a taxi ride.

I normally park at the pub on Foleshill Road next to the fire station (think it's the 3 Horseshoes). Normally costs less than a fiver but this Saturday you'll need to get there stupidly early to get parked as it's a sell out for the first time. Traffic on the by-pass will be bloomin' awful too. Forget about parking at Tesco.

There are some park and ride schemes but I've never used them. Should be some links on the CCFC website.

Come on you Sky Blues.

hi

cheers for that for a 12:30 kick off what time should i be looking to get there so i can sort parking etc

i was thinking of 11-1130 ish (coming from worcester) which is normally about an hour away

which is the best junction to get off to avoid the madness (3?)

Not sure about the motorway as I come up from Gloucestershire on the A46 which takes you pretty much all of the way to the ground.

As regards time to get there, it's going to be manic on Saturday and the earlier you get there the better. If you don't set off from Worcester until 10am I reckon you'll struggle. On a "normal" matchday the car parks nearest to the Ricoh get pretty full an hour before kick off. I can't go this week as I'm away (grr) but if I was going I'd get there by 11 latest and park a bit away from the ground. Better too early than too late. I imagine it's going to be a bit mad getting out after the game too.

There are plenty of pubs in the area that will let you park for a small fee. Might be worth you putting a post on the GMKonline forum asking for advice - if you ask nicely they won't bite your head off!

BTW, you supporting City or Chelski?

hi

i was thinking of leaving at 10 to be on the safe side, not been to the new place (not that we did very well at the old one !!)

I am Chelsea (not chelski that for the JCL) been supporting them all my life and to be honest hate it there at the mo. to many people more interested in taking pics than supporting the team or booing if we are not 2-0 up after 20 mins !! I suspose that you get with success !!

I used to like coming to highfield as it was alwas a good day out (mind you when we played you the last few times you would win to get our season off to the normal start !!) I do remember one year we had to play in your away kit as our away kit clashed (brown and white squares if i remeber )

I still reckon 10am will be cutting it fine. You'll get to Cov quick but probably spend just as long getting around and trying to park. That's just me though, I like to get up there early to avoid getting stressed in the car!

It was red and blue checks when you played in our away kit. Le Boeuf took a hissy fit and chucked his on the ground at the end as you had lost. Temper temper.

Have a safe, but ultimately disappointing, trip on Saturday. City to win 1-0. Best to score.:-D

We're on a roll at the moment. Could feature at Wembley 3 times this season - semi after we beat your lot, cup final when we beat whoever, and play off final too. I can dream can't i? Typical, first year in ages that I don't get a season ticket and they decide to start playing well. Keep an eye out for Gunnarson. He's awesome.

There are a few car parks just off J3 of the M6 too - the Novotel does parking, as does the Church on Longford Road. TBH if you go down the Bedworth/Londford/Foleshill Road (Its one long stretch, and changes name that amount of times!) there will be a working mens club/pub/church to park at, all around a fiver.
Don't go towards Bedworth as you won't find any carparking there at all for the football, unless you go into Bedworth town Centre and the Ryepiece Ringway carparks, and park there, catching a number 20 or 48 bus to take you down bedworth/longford/foleshill road, and you can walk through the back of Tesco Arena, right next to the Ricoh.

Don't expect an atmosphere - the Ricoh has never had any any time I've been there!

just found the train is only £9 so how long to get from the station to the ground?

yes i remeber now red and blue, bloody awful kit (the result did not help)

I think it might be a draw to be honest

if it is and you are struggling for a ticket let me know as i am a season ticket holder at the bridge

You'll need to get a cab or a bus from the station. It's a bit of a trek!

Hope it doesn't go to a replay tbh, I think we've got a chance on Saturday but would probably get beaten at your place. Will defo remember your name though, just in case!

They run the 101 football bus from both Pool Meadow Bus Station in the city and the railway station (separate buses) believe it's now £3.30 return and goes direct to the ground without stops

There's also the option of taking the train to Bedworth (changing at Birmingham and Nuneaton).

That's about the same distance from the ground as Coventry station (ie a long long way).

Bus 56 runs from Bedworth station to around 10-15 minutes walk from the ground (possibly far enough away not to be too seriously affected by traffic).

Return ticket from Worcester to Bedworth is also £9.10 so it's up to you. In fact you could buy the ticket to Bedworth and go one way and return the other as travel is permitted via either Coventry or Nuneaton.

Yes traffic is awful and they have been limiting the free parking at Tesco to 2 hours on match days I understand!! As it's going to be heaving on Saturday they will be bound to be trying to cash in to stop the retail park grinding to a halt.

BTW they are asking Cov fans who are collecting tickets on the matchday to be at the Ricoh to collect by 10.45. Blackburn replay kicked off 15 mins late due to crowd congestion with a gate of 24,000 odd and going to be 7-8K more fans on Saturday which is uncharted territory at the Ricoh.

Could loan you a space on my drive for free but you'll need 2 buses to get to the Ricoh from here (10.40 bus arrives Pool Meadow, Coventry 11.20am, then connect onto matchday bus which will take about half an hour ish up to the stadium with the traffic - matchday return £4 each I believe)

Also beware Crufts is on at the NEC so there maty be some congestion around that area (M42/ A45 junction) on Saturday morning!!

They definitely won't be delaying the kick off in case of crowd congestion either as it's a live TV match.
