Just found out cant use my GHD's in the US.

Are there any deals out there for a decent set of multi-voltage straightners?

Don't want to pay too much but at the same time don't want to look like a scarecrow either!

I went to the US in April and took my GHD's as I didn't realise before I went there was a problem, completely forgot the voltage is different. However, they did work as long as you left a LONG time for them to heat up, basically instead of taking around 15-20 seconds they took about 4-5 minutes to get to the flickering light stage and then worked as normal. I have quite curly hair and GHD's are the only ones that can get it straight and they still managed it in the US so you should be OK. Save your money and splurge on all the cheap clothes in the US instead, especially Crocs and Converse which I just WISH I'd bought while I was out there as they were cheaper in dollars than they are over here in pounds and then you more or less half it for the exchange rate, a pair of converse boots for my daughter (that they didn't have her size in ) were $20 and I saw an identical pair in this country when I got back for £25 so take a big suitcase.
Hope this helps, my first reply on hotukdeals and I'm rambling already.

do what i did. go to walmart and buy a pair with a US plug on for about 17 dollars. they worked a treat. much better idea than taking £100 worth that are not going to work properly. my cheapies only took about 30 secs to heat up...

You want a converter that will change the USA voltage into a UK voltage. Something like this : Step-Up Transformer

Or This I usually take one of these with me, along with a UK 6 socket adaptor. So I've got 6 UK sockets then for all my electrically powered items. Laptop, iPod, Phone charger, etc.

I have just returned from US and used my ghd's with a normal adaptor, they were fine no probs noticed?.
