Hi, I just need some advice. Someone is selling a dell 6230 4gb ram 128 ssd 12.5 in laptop for £70. I don't know much about laptops and even less about whether its worth the risk of buying secondhand. Do you think its worth it or should I leave it? Thanks.

Yes, If it turns on and loads windows then it's probably going to be ok, You could check system info to make sure all the ram is present etc..

Their are things you can do to test hardware like checking bad sectors on HD, or other system scans etc.. but that would take some time.

You could use Dell diagnostics tools

Obviously an element of risk buying second hand, Always a gamble.

Also check for bios password, press F2 on start up to make sure one hasn't been set, Otherwise you may not be able to reinstall an OS should anything happen to the Windows installation.

I'd take it for £70 might check if it holds charge. but otherwise it's a good deal.

6230's are good machines....not light but very well built unlike the current plastic Latitude range.
even If the battery doesn't hold much charge add on the cost of the battery and it's still a decent machine for sub £100

Where is it being sold? Does it mention condition?

Thanks everyone. Its just someone local through a casual friend. They say its in good condition and battery is OK.
