I was thinking of trading my PS4 plus 5 games to game for the pro but still paying £180 on top. Do you guys think it's worth it? Or do you think it's better to wait until next year to get a better d… Read More

Do you have a 4K HDR TV?

Just wait. You can probably sell your PS4 with 5 games for more elsewhere tbh.

No
then no

didnt think pro was needed just for hdr/4k support?
#8
Dont do it,

Some games are patching improvements to their 1080p resolutions as well but the main supported draw has always been 4k.

I've got the Pro and can't notice a difference lol. I don't have a 4k TV so missing pretty much the main thing.
If you do sell yours make sure to deactivate it so its no longer the primary ps4

No, ps4 pro has better graphics. 4k support is a myth. You will notice better graphics on a regular TV.
#12
its not a myth, u need a 4k tv that also has HDR. i have the 65 inch LG with 2 HDR / hdmi 2.2 ports and when i stream via kodi box, you see a lot better as i have a 4k HDMI lead as well that can run upto 60hz

If ur not looking to buy a 4k tv then as already stated not worth it... only 30 games patched for getter graphics so far and not a major improvement...

Both smelly and ccw are correct but at the moment only 30 games are supported for graphic improvement. The short answer is no as the pros main selling point is 4k which you dnt have and improved vr which apparently works so well on the original ps4 that its not worth replacing. Only time id say buy the pro is if youve not got one to start with

i agree with sone of whats been said before, but to play devils advocate:

your ps4 is only going to decrease in value so if you ever plan on getting any money for ps4 this is the time to do it. The same goes for those games. Doesnt matter that you dont have 4k there are also apparantely advantages for 1080p users.

devils advocate.... dont shoot me :)

Disagree, native 4k content will and is limited. Ps4 pro is incapable of producing blockbuster titles in 4k. The greatest draw is the higher resolutions, framrates and better graphics, perhaps the hdr too.

Most of these you will notice on a regular TV. I imagine most games will run at 1080p on the ps4 pro or upsacaled, better than the irregular resolutions before it. The pro is therefore a true 1080p console.

Those than understand computer hardware know this.

most buy 4k tv and wonder why nothing is in 4k, one reason is you need a hdmi 2.2 lead and of course a 4k source. a cheap 1.2-1.4 hdmi wont cut it. I`m not sure what hdmi comes with the pro, but i have 2 TRUE 4k 2.2 hdmi leads. One in my 4k kodi box that can do from 25hz to 60hz in 4k. I have 1 in my 4k vu solo2 sat box and see good test signals of 4k from many sats across the world. sky Q is due to be in UHD but i have not seen the true specs on the signal sent out.

as stated here

Q: Is there anything else I should know if I own both PS VR and PS4 Pro, and a 4K TV?
If you’re playing a normal, non-VR game on your PS4 Pro, PS VR’s Processor Unit will output a 4K signal to a 4K TV — but in the YUV420 format only. The Processor Unit does not support HDR pass-through, so you will need to plug your PS4 Pro directly into your TV (bypassing the Processor Unit) to view HDR content.

Q: Does PS4 Pro support rendering in full, native 4K?
Yes. While PS4 Pro supports outputting a native 4K signal, many developers are leveraging powerful rendering technologies including a process called “checkerboard rendering” to best balance the heightened clarity of a native 4K signal with other rich graphical features and a smooth performance profile.

Q: Will PS4 Pro require a 4K TV?
No. PS4 Pro can display much higher resolutions than the standard PS4 when using a 4K TV. But if you own an HDTV (720p, 1080i, 1080p), PS4 Pro can still improve your gaming experience.

Q: What video output settings does PS4 Pro support?
At launch, PS4 Pro supports all of the HD video output settings found on the standard PS4. Notably, PS4 Pro introduces 4K output, with settings for both 2160p YUV420 and 2160p RGB (recommended if your TV supports it) at up to 60 frames per second when using a supported 4K TV and Premium HDMI (aka HDMI 2.0) cable.

so states need a hdmi 2.0, my tv has 2 hdmi 2.2 ports, so i should be ok

Right to all the people saying if you DO NOT have a 4K TV, DO NOT get one..Please don't talk dumb as I don't have a 4K TV and I noticed the difference, straight away (40" LED Samsung). Clearer images, no frame rate drops, quicker loading (with HSSD) - The answer is YES, trade in the OLD console and get one, that will benefit you in many ways - better graphics, latest PS model. If you don't like it - trade it in for worse frame rates / lag spikes with an old XB1 (not slim). I traded in old PS4 (£147 with CEX price match) and paid £202 with Dishonored 2. It is a no brainer, be a PRO not a HOE!
