howdo - virgin media will do a 2 for £20 bundle that includes the following: (Dependant on whether you can get cable though but would cut out the BTline rental.)

Phone Size: M
(Talk Weekends)
Unlimited local and national calls at weekends‡

‡After 60 mins calls will be charged at 3p a min. Redial before 60 mins to avoid call charges. Excludes non-geographic (eg 0845, 0870 etc) mobile, international, premium and internet calls which are charged at standard rates.

You'd probably be able to get cheapest Sky TV package for £15, with free broadband and free evening and weekend talk package. Worth looking into for a cheap option.

I believe you still have to pay the BT line rental with Sky

Does sky broadband allow unlimited downloads?
#6
Yeah it does. But Sky broadband for me was rubbish. I had it for 2 months and it never once connected to the net. They said it was something to do with the area, and they had no idea when it would be cleared.... Useless. Virgin Media broadband is better but a lot more expensive. Id go with Sky broadband if it worked to tell you the truth but im stuck with Virgin media for now

True, took that as a given. The standard broadband comes with 2gb download limit which is fine for me. Think its £5 more for unlimited?

Been on their broadband for about 3 months so far, no problems considering Im on the edge of the exchange and can only get 1.5mb broadband. Only thing I did do was buy my own wireless router as the one they gave me was pants.

EDIT: Got it wrong £5 for 40gb. Depends what download speed you want. Cost outlined here http://broadband.sky.com/

Don't suppose you're with Vodafone for your mobile? They do 8Mb unlimited broadband and unlimited local/national calls for £25 a month including line rental if you're a mobile customer.

See http://online.vodafone.co.uk/dispatch/Portal/appmanager/vodafone/wrp?_nfpb=true&_pageLabel=template05&pageID=VA_0005 for info.

I am all for saving a few bob, but the one thing I will not try to skimp on is BB access.

I will only ever use a provider with a one month contract, that has first class support.

Once bitten, twice shy.;-)

Another Thumbs-up for Sky,
I've had it for 2 months now, and thus far very impressed.
Infact BT said i could only get broadband speeds of up to 1.5 and i'm currently clocking a tad over 3.
The transition was smooth and on time, no interuption in service.
Plus for an additional £5 i get free landline calls 24/7.
Yes, I still have to pay £11 bt line rental, but seeing as sky are dropping the £10 sky+ charge from July 1st, I'm quids in.

Further info about sky can be found on the unofficial forum here http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/

If you're already on talk tralk, then why not go for their talk 3 package?

It comes in at £19.99 per month and INCLUDES the line rental. For this price, you also get unlimited anytime calls to landline numbers and FREE broadband!

That would be a much better price than what you're already paying if you can live without sky/cable tv.

Tiscali.co.uk

£17.99 for 8mb b/band ,unlimited download, and all local and national calls 24/7

You have to take out line rental to get this ,which is £10.50 if i remember

I have been with tiscali for about 18 months and have had no problems whatsoever.Their customer support is excellent, and I have even phoned them to ask if I can get deals I have seen advertised for new customers and have had my terms changed immediately

I have had probs in past with other providers but can not rate Tiscali highly enough, Sure you may save a £ or 2 with other providers but Tiscali are worth the little bit extra IMHO

 seems Good......

However, there is a cap on downloads of 40 GB / month

If this was unlimited broadband, it would be perfect. :-D

I might try their customer services soon and ask if they could do unlimited broadband. Been with them for approximately 18 months.

Not sure it would work though,:?

Has anyone else ever haggled with TALK TALK before?????
:!:

By the way thanks to all of you for participating in this thread and for very useful advice....

I must be

I was with Homecall previously and they were an absolute nightmare, I lost service for over 3 months with them and struggled to get my money back, changed to tiscali as soon as i could and have had no probs at all.

We have 2 pc`s and xbox360 ,and are connected to internet (live) every day so no download limit is ideal.

I found Tiscali customer service to be a joke - utterly hopeless.

They also mess with your speeds - mysteriously slowing it down until you call them up and insist that they fix it - avoid avoid avoid!!!!

I'm with Tiscali, £17.99 unlimited download 8MB speed and anytime calls 24/7 (+ line rental)
They slow down the connection alot after 4pm till midnight everyday.
I would switch to another isp today if I could find one cheaper, but as of yet I can't find anyone close.

Tiscali have also lost a load of customers emails just recently.

Definitely not going for TISCALI

any other offers?

hey, try orange boradband? my dads on that and gets it free because of the phone contract he's on with orange. obviously wont benefit you if your not with them but hey you never no. :)

Don't go with TISCALI... please don't!!

I had 4days with them... they cocked it all up... made my first ADSL experience a nightmare!!

Almost 2years later I'm now having problems with my g/f's internet.

They have been with them for ages and were on a 512k unlimited deal... they were offered last year a free upgrade to 2meg for the same cost.

A year later she's still getting 512k!! When you connect it say's your connected @ 2.2meg but on speed tests and BT line test it says 512k....

Use TISCALI speed test tho you get anything from 512k - 1.5meg!!

They cap, mess and reduce their service to you as and when they feel!!

I'm with Orange - Have a phone contract for £30 a month & they give me free wireless internet. You can pay an extra £5 a month and get 8meg unlimited net, unlimited calls too - land & Orange contract mobiles.

If you wanna loose your BT line completely they only way is to use T-Mobile's web'n'walk USB modem. £30/month = 3gb.

Sounds like your a high user tho so the only way is to keep a BT line to offer you the fastest & unlimited useage you require.

Anyone who just uses the net very little Orange have just brough out £5/month Mobile bolt on for unlimited evening & w/end gprs use for your mobile...... but you can use it as a modem...... JUST USE IT VERY LITTLR THO!!!

Orange can track how much you use and if it looks like your using it as a modem they will remove you from the service... so you have to use it as if it was going to the handset... eg. web pages only... don't go d/loading films all night!!! :-)

Sorry for the essay :-p
