WTD Golf Mk3 Lowering Springs

I wanted the springs for a golf mk3 P reg. I wanted to lower about 40mm but the question is the springs do I replace the springs on the stock shocks? or do I have to buy new shocks? and would i need to do tracking etc again? Can i fit them myself?

You do not need to replace the shocks and you can fit them yourself if you have spring compressors. You could do a diy job and cut your springs down with an angle grinder but don't let them get to hot and take the pressure off them by jacking up the car first.

Some people may say do not do this but I have on many occasions.

You will then need to get the suspension geometry checked or you risk tyre wear.
