Xbox 360 3 red lights...help!

Just had my 360 die on me today with the 3 red lights (all except the top right) which as I understand it is a general hardware failure. The manufactueres date for this console is 10-11-2006 so is out of the 12 month warranty from Game where it was bought. This is actually my 3rd console that has died on me. First had the 4 red lights, Game swapped no problem, 2nd console had the drive fail on me and again they swapped no problem but this was within 12months of purchase. Anybody know whether micro$oft are repairing consoles after the 12months without charge as I thought I heard a few months back that they had extended the warranty (this might have been just for the 4 red lights error-not sure).
Failing that, what are my options?
Would I be best off selling the console on here or ebay and getting a new one, paying micro$oft to repair (however much that will be) or is there anybody on here that can fix this problem?- Have seen a couple of sellers on ebay claiming to be able to fix it without a problem but does say they will refund you if they cant fix it-only worry is then that I'd be stuck with a console which I assume micro$oft wouldnt touch as it had been opened?

Any help/suggestions much appreciated

Phone your warrenty Number that come with your xbox Microsoft give 3 years i belive, Same happend to mine so i phone microsoft and got it repaired 2 years after purchase No Probs!!!

As mentioned above Microsoft offer a 3 year warrenty for the 3 red lights "ring of death", the extended warrenty only applies to the three red light.

When you phone Microsoft up they will take your serial number and send you a sticker out via UPS so that you can return it back to the repair centre and you call UPS once your machine is ready for collection.

A little tip is to package your machine up ready for when the UPS driver comes out with your sticker and they will take it away the same day if everything is ready to go as it saves time and you will get your machine back a bit quicker. Make sure you remove your harddrive and if you have a special faceplate make sure you put the normal one back on.

Microsoft normally give you a 1 month xbox live gold code for the hassle but if you stress your not happy with 3 machines going wrong within 12 months you may get a little extra as heard them giving wireless pads, wireless headsets and wireless adapters out as added compensation, my friend reently got a wireless headset for free for his inconvenience

Thanks for that, called them and have arranged for UPS to collect within the next 5 working days. Got it packed up properly (without the HD) ready to for when they turn up. Will give them a call and have a proper moan as I was wondering whether or not they would do anything in the form of compensation-the fact your without the console for a month having paid for xbox live etc although thought they would'nt do anything as the amount of consoles that have gone wrong giving compensation would just add to their costs in getting them replaced/repaired. No doubt they won't want to do anything as with 2 of the consoles that I had die on me I returned to Game so no proof other than where Game marked my receipt to say they exchanged it.

Hi merlin, same thing has happened to me, ive got my console packed ready for ups to pick it up today, im going to ask for a month free for xbox live as im not be using it for the month it takes for it to be repaired, dont think they'll agree but its worth a try

Thanks for that tip NFS, mines getting picked up today, will give them a ring and see what they will offer as form of compensation, the wireless headset would be great

My console is away getting sorted just now

I phoned on Monday morning,
they e-mailed postal stickers to me Monday lunchtime
UPS picked up Tues Morning
Arrived Ireland Wednesday morning

Very quick so far,but I will still have to wait 3 weeks to get it back :x

i have bought new (hopefully better version, with GTA IV) and will sell mine when it returns

Yeh seems they always deal with it,but I'm always reading that people have problems with them.
