they are the cheapest if you want to risk the voucher, they have cleaned up their act at the mo, from the sounds of it you haven't even read about Ixtreme, your just after pirated software, but I'm not here to judge, it's easy to do if you have a little technical know how, go to xbox-scene and do some reading, I'll warn you now, they do not condone piracy and if you start asking for downloaded games it's an instant ban, but they will support you 100% on the tech side and teach you how to make backups of anything you own.

Most people charge around £30, Defo don't pay anymore, but some people do it as low as £10, it al depends, but def don't try to do anything, without feeling 100% comfortable with it, if you want to DIY then I suggest to start with an old console like overclocking a megadrive or modding an original xbox, something less expensive, then going for your 360, but be prepared for things to go wrong.

Hope this helps

You don't need certain tools, they just make lift a lot easier.

no you need tools on new drives
unless he knows how to make a ttl to serial converter to read the key from the lite-on drive
but as above if you if your not 100% about flashing yourself get someone to do it for you.

Chances are you'll get a lite-on drive, if that is the case then an external tool/kit is required to read and dump the keys, you can purchase a kit or make your own, loads of guides on the net. Flashing the 360 itself is easy if you have the right tools.

1.6 is the newest firmware.

cheers matey i only have a laptop do i need a pc to flash the drive?

Highly recommended you use a PC, especially if it is a Lite-On drive, as you'll need access to SATA controller, whichever drive you'll end up with.

However it is possible, you'll need a PCMCIA 2 Port Sata High Speed Cardbus with the VIA6421 chip.
