Hi all,

just bought a new xbox 360, was a bit hesistent after hearing stories of unreliability etc, but took the plunge anyway.

Plugged it in, turned it on and what do i get... only the flashing red lights with a error on the screen saying system error contact microsoft etc

"oh s***" i thought, didnt expect it to be this unrealible!! :-D

Good thing is amazon have agreed to send me a replacement.

My question is, does anyone know where I can get extended warranty for it, the one where you can get a new replacement machine if your current one goes faulty?

I know i bought it from amazon, but would i be able to get warranty for it from comet, dixons etc? and how much are they usually?

cheers.

At the moment you have a 12 month warranty from microsoft. Meaning that if you get a faulty console (like the one you have) then you can just ring up microsoft, they will send you a box and then you send it away (they pay for postage both ways) and within 5 days you will have a new/fixed 360. You can get the extended warranty by using the leaflet thingy which came in the box with your 360. I think it costs £50-£80 for an extra 2 years, so overall its not bad.

Personnally i would buy your 360 from gamestation as when you get a new 360 you get a new 12 month warranty, it might be a few quid more but then your garrentied a new console when you take it back instead of having to wait 5 days.

Not to make you sound like a fool or anything but have you made sure everything is connected properly?

Mine was from gamestation took it back no worries. Best of all I bought it off ebay for a second hand price and I now have pretty much a brand new console!

mine broke, it was from blockbuster, they accepted it no worries

I got mine when it first came out so it only had like 3 months warranty. They extended it later, but in the pack they had this extra warranty thing which costed like £60 for 2 years or something. I cant remember how long. But just buy it from somewhere like Gamestation or wherever and when the 12 months is about to be up break it and get a replacement if you feel its getting a bit dodgy (Disc Errors etc)

When you buy the console, Microsoft offer you a discounted warranty that works out around £50 for 3 years? But a lot of people just risk it
