Hi all, not quite sure if this is in the right forum.

10 minutes ago, pro evo 8 (which is less than 8 hrs old fresh from GAME) was in the console and i moved it from horizontally flat to vertical then back down to being flat on the floor. Heard like a grinding sound, then it comes up 'disk un-readable, please clean or something'. Polished it with an ipod cloth and nothing

ive just been googling if its happened before, and ive found loads that is has but it does say in the manual but was still wondering could i take it back to GAME as i have a reciept or would microsoft actually replace it?

Thanks and any help/suggestions i would really really appreciate as my mates just gone mmmeeennnttaaalll and its gonna set me back £40.00 (unless i get it off ebay second hand :whistling: )

Cheers,TJ

yeah :( but if i said i didn't what would be the outcome

i mean how could they prove it, on the other accounts that i read they said (mostly yanks, hoorah) that the console scratched it whilst jusy lying there. so, i dunno

I really think you can just take it back to Game (asap) say it just wouldn't run and that you'd like to replace it for another copy.
It's not like you are wanting a refund or swapping for another game(Which would arouse suspicion)

The customer is (almost) always right, and they can't call you a liar.
Also, Game will be able to get a refund on it from their supplier. It will be no bother to them.

This should be in Misc.

Your disc is knackered, It says in the xbox instruction book, never move the xbox when the console is powered on. It also says on the disc drive when you buy a new xbox "Do Not Move While Xbox Is Powered".Usually when you move the xbox it leaves a scratched ring on the disc (the grinding noise). I'm not sure you would be able to exchange it.

The pattern left on the disc is generally a very distinctive one, I would doubt Game would take it back but it's worth trying.

If you don't have any luck, your next port of call should be the publisher of the game as they may well replace your scratched disc with another although you may need to pay a fee for this.

:o You're an extremely lucky person. Hell, it even says on the label you had to peel off the DVD drive before use not to move the console while on and a disk in it... very lucky to get away with it indeed!
