Xbox 360 or a DVD Player?

We've just bought a new Philips 42PFL5603D ( of of those eco friendly ones ). Now we want a tidy DVD Player to go with it. I'm in two minds whether to buy a Philips upscaling DVD player or pay that little extra and get a Xbox 360 Arcade version with HDMI. GAME.CO.UK have them for £129.99 with LIPS included so I could come as a karaoke too! I already have a 360 in my basement I use for my gaming and know that it plays pretty much anything you throw at it. Anyone got any opinions.
Thanks.

I'd like to say Xbox too. Even more if I can pick up LIPS with it too. But do you know if there are any disadvantages to buy it over a proper DVD player.

major disadvantage is that ull spend dosh buying great games to play...and you wont have as much time to watch ur dvds!lol!
on a serious note id def spend that little extra on a 360-you can get so many games both new and 2nd hand great condition for so little these days...

Xbox's are nowhere near as eco friendly as a DVD player and PS3s are worse again.

I find my xbox a bit annoying with dvds cause its noisey, But saying that my 360 is a older one, and i dont no how quiet the new ones are.

Too be honest, we don't watch loads of films. And the ones we do, normally are in avi. and various downloaded ones anyway. The idea of putting them onto a memory card and directly into the front of the Xbox usb slot saves me burning them onto disks. I've got my own 360 which my wife has banished me to the basement with. I've got it hooked up to our old 32". So the fact that I can take the HD from mine and plug it into the new one connectted upstairs means I can get some quality gaming time on the 42" HD LCD when she's gone out. Tidy!
