hi, I recently purchased an xbox one s and am going to buy a second controller for my young son. I thought that only the new controllers with Bluetooth would work with it but now I think I'm wrong and all controllers work with new console.
could anyone confirm this for me and what is the benefit of buying new over old if they are all compatible?
thanks

Hi donna, all xbox one controllers will work with xbox one s, there are 4 types of controllers, 1st gen (no 3.5mm headphone jack) 2nd gen (has a 3.5mm headphone jack suitable for turtle beach headsets etc) and 3rd gen (the bluetooth controller which comes with the xbox one s) and the elite controller (has extra paddles on the back which are programmable) hope this helps you

the new Bluetooth xb1 s means it can connect to PC/phone via Bluetooth.
