I'm intending to sell my son's Xbox one to cex or game. I've unplugged it all and just wondered if before selling it I should do some sort of factory reset on it. I know he had an Xbox live account and downloaded minecraft and rocket league as games. He said when they test it they will delete everything before they sell it. Am I worrying unnecessarily.
Thanks, any help appreciated as I'm clueless with this sort of thing.

I would factory reset to be on the safe side. Especially if there is card details on it.

Do a factory reset, I've known for Cex and other companies alike to resell without removing the customers data. The last thing you want is to have someone buying things with your credit card if its on file.

Just a side note, I wouldn't sell to either of those. They'll rip you off big time! Sell privately on Facebook, Gumtree or ebay and you'll likely get much more. I cringe when I see people selling to Cex and Game as I know most of the items are worth so much more than they'll get.

CEX are offering £107 and they are going for around £150 on the bay so you would make more but not much more after fees and postage and there is added risk. I would def try Gumtree first and look for £140

You could put it on eBay for collection only and add 10% to the price, so £155 (_;)

You'll still more likely sell through eBay from my experience. I have items advertised on eBay and Gumtree every week so I have good idea.

Thanks for all the answers.
I just thought selling it to cex and game would be pretty much instant rather than advertising it on gumtree and have the hassle of people offering less and then not turning up.
I'll have a rethink about eBay too.

Depends on your circumstances but for me the extra £25 or so isn't worth the risk /stress of being scammed on Gumtree / eBay. CEX prices are guaranteed and if you want to get a voucher a boxed XBox One 500GB is worth £136.
To the original question - yes - factory reset before you sell it.

Where in London are you based? I'd be willing to buy it. PM if you're still looking to sell.
