I used to have an XFX 6600GT, to be honest although XFX make good cards I dont think they did a very good job on the 6600GT. The first batch had bad heatsinks so they had to make a second edition which was the one I had but the heatsink on that broke within a few weeks and was VERY loud when it was running. If you do go for one, personally I would get something like an NV Silencer to put on it. Sorry that doesn't really get you a better price, but might be useful all the same.

can you tell me where i could get a cheap nv silencer from and are they easy to fit?
thanks

sparkle are worse than xfx for the 6600gt though rnt they?

You can get them from YoYoTech.com for around £16inc p+p and are very easy to fit if you have some basic experience with computers, but even if you don't it should be fairly straight forward. The 6600GT needs an NV Silencer 6 so make sure you get one of those as others are designed for different cards.
You might get a better price ordering one from wherever you get your videocard from because you'll save on shipping costs.

If you want to avoid that, and are looking for a silent system you might want to look into the Gigabyte 6600GT which has a passive cooler but you'll need to make sure your case has good airflow.

127 inc p+p at dabs.

I don't know about discount codes. But you might want to wait around to see if other people that know more about it than me have a chance to reply.
