Also looking for a reliable seller and hopefully I wont be stung by customs by a grey import

These phones come in 2 flavours usually a normal model without band 20 and no good on voda O2 4G or special editions with it. I've found 4G faster on EE and 3 anyway as O2 voda where made to upgrade their masts which has been tagged onto legacy 800mhz 2g masts why it's rubbish. three was built for 3 then 4G.

Yes I was looking at that device but I am not a fan of the interface and Kirin processor. But that is just my piece of cake, hope you enjoy

If you don't flash it yourself you're mental. So many resellers load them up with buggy roms and malware.

Official global (if it exists) or xiaomi.eu rom.

Yeh that was what is putting me off, Geekbuyer are offering the International Global ROM for a decent price. But not sure if I will get charged import fees

Mi Max does not have a variant with B20 support so 4G will be dependant on whether your network is one that uses B20 800mhz only for 4G. Check this site for a general guideline, although it's not fully up to date.

Comments from the Geekbuying Mi Max deal would suggest they take a long time before they dispatch so if you ordered from there you'd have to be patient. People who ordered from the Gearbest deal seem to have received theirs sooner. However it's out of stock and the other models have gone up in price. Aliexpress would vary depending on which seller you buy from. There was this Aliexpress deal but it doesn't seem like any people purchased it so can't tell how good that seller would be in terms of delivery time.

Geekbuying seems like the cheapest at the moment but they appear to be doing a 'pre-sale' with a countdown of 1 week. They currently have over 2000 'pre-orders' between the 2 colours so it will likely not be dispatched right after the 'pre-sale' ends, next week. Depending on how long they take, there's a risk it might not arrive before christmas.

This is the one I have my eyes on. Apparently standard shipping is less likely to be charged fees. Not sure about the seller but if the payment is through PayPal dont mind too much. The delivery time is the only issue.

Here's a Redmi Note 3 deal from that seller. If you read the recent comments, nobody who bought it appears to have received it yet. I posted a deal from Geekbuying about 4 days after it, which is the same scenario so either option seem likely to take 3 weeks minimum. However, it could be caused by an influx of orders during 11/11. Aliexpress don't have payment via PayPal.

If you go for standard delivery. 14 +days you will probably get away with the duty. Not heard of anyone getting caught with that yet. DHL quick delivery will be different as always get caught with duty to pay. They can take 7 days to dispatch phone as it seems they flash the international rom if needed. I have a friend with the mi max and it's really nice. I have the redmi note 3 international which is the same phone but with band 20. I believe though if you root the mi max you can get it you work with band 20.

Will try and see get this one http://www.geekbuying.com/item/International-Version-Xiaomi-Mi-Max-3GB-32GB-Smartphone---Gold-369767.html

but it is currently for preorder. PayPal would be the safest bet but the wait is one to endure. Also there are no lagging issues on Xiaomi Phones? as that it what puts me off. Based on most reviews, none indicate it but I was hoping an owner of this phone could answer some of my questions

I bought the redmi note 3 international and my mate has the mi max. We both bought from aliexpress. Both on 02 but he don't get any 4g but finds it ok. He has a second 3 network sim in phone for 4g if needed. Aliexpress do delivery and shipping damage insurance which you can't avoid paying for if you buy using the app, I believe you can remove if bought on the pc using the browser. I would stick with the delivery insurance. I have had no lag and finger print scanner works great. I had a lg g4 before and this phone is just as fast. No phone lag. Camera outside in daylight is fine and I'm happy with it but not so good inside. That's well documented. Buy a case and screen cover with your phone purchase. I have a silicone clear case but my mate has the mi max flip case in a gold. He wishes he bought black but I think it looks fantastic in gold.

I got the Mi Max 3gb from Aliexpress - from the official Xiaomi store. I chose standard postage. Came in about two weeks. Was marked as an MP3 player low value - and no customs charge. I'm using the phone now. It is superb! I've come from a Nexus 6 and this one is light years ahead. Been hammering it all day using Google maps / email / WhatsApp / calls. Was 100% charged at 7:30am. Now 6pm and it's on 79%. Unbelievable! My Nexus would be dead by now. Fingerprint reader is fabulous. Love the thing. I've put Nova Launcher on it and got it exactly how I want it. Have 4g on the EE network.

Great to hear! Could you send the link if the seller is still selling, and I believe that there is no lag on the phone in general. Also, it is a bit of a stretch but could you run Geekbench 3 on it. I would love to see the single and multi core scores!

Just to point out it is NOT the official store, it's just a random store using the name to deceive people.

Global edition is always going to be the better option, although my mate bought the mi max form aliexpress. Not the global edition and they emailed him saying dispatch will be delayed as they would load phone with the global rom. He's well happy with phone.

Just run this for you. Geekbench 3. Single core 1535 and multi core 3665. No idea if these are good but this phone blows away everything I've had before. That's enough for me

Yes those scores are excellent for the price range, technically the processor is faster than the one found in the Galaxy S6 and Note 5. And the Sony xperia Z5. Thanks for the help! Just need to consolidate the supplier from who I will buy it from.

Someone must know on here... Yes forgotten 4 digit pin code on locked screen...

Watched various YouTube clips of some methods but I get the picture on the phone to connect phone to charger / pc and the web link shows on phone screen rather than the options to wipe phone.

Have downloaded the software from website stated on phone screen at time to recover that way but the software says connect phone and it doesn't connect / recognise phone is connected to PC.

Yes forgotten PIN on screen and have tried many times and each time I get it wrong I have to wait 2 hrs before trying again.

I don't mind if the phone is wiped as there is no data on it. As long as it goes back to the way it was upon arrival from supplier I can start again.

Help!

Fingerprint don't work then? Folks setting up a pin only to forget it has to be seen to believe. My mate setup an iPhone with a pin only to instantly have no idea what the pin number was. Amazing. Anyway. Just factory reset phone as that will wipe everything I believe.
