Depends what sort of thing you are looking for, but ASDA have a section near the cards with Party bag toys which a usually smallish.

Last year best ones were M&S or Waitrose. Tesco aren't bad either

I always roll up a scratch card in my crackers!

The larger supermarkets will have a selection of kids party bag fillers normally either on the toy isle or next to the cards.

Standard DIY present in crackers for adults is the £1 scratch cards, for kids you should be able to pick up something small like shopkins or lego minifiguires and get them inside.

Poundland have multipacks you can split. An AAA battery should fit in a cracker, or maybe a tube of superglue or a sticking plaster. Have you thought of cereal? A few Golden Nuggets would be a nice surprise for a niece.

We always put a mini bottle of alcohol in for the adults :) I haven't been able to find any "make your own" crackers this year.... Thanks for the reminder
