Probably not. By then you'll have multiple posts on here from clowns stating how they've bought everything and are going to make lots of money from selling it.

Why HotUK moderators don't deem such antisocial, unethical and repulsive behaviour to be worthy of a ban, I don't know. Aren't we as a community supposed to help each other, respect each other and encourage each other, or are we supposed to ridicule each other and show as much inhumanity as possible?

I appreciate that if these vile people choose to exploit their financial ability there's not much HotUK moderators can do about it - even if these people are crapping on the poor people out there who rely on the availability of bargains to be able to buy nice products - but surely it isn't too much for deliberately inappropriate and cruel members to be banned. Not only would this reduce the frustration for people from having to read such horrible comments, the added bonus would mean it would be more difficult for these greedy types to be aware when deals are available, and so more HotUK members can benefit from these deals, gain the associated happiness and spread the love through the community.

If those samples are anything to go by, even 90% wouldn't be enticing...

Slightly o/t but I wish Boots would sort their website out.. Their sale section shows mostly out of stock products, why they don't just drop them from the list instead of leaving them there with out of stock on them... it's infuriating! Out of 48 (edited)

Devils advocate...so it’s ok that every big business does this but when Joe Bloggs tries to make a few quid to supplement his income it’s ‘antisocial, unethical and repulsive’?

I personally haven’t done this before but not because I’m too high and mighty to.

Honestly? That 'poor people of Britain' argument is really starting to wind me up! Everyone has an equal chance of getting their bum down to Boots in the morning. If it matters enough to you then you'll get there, if it doesn't then you won't. Do you really think the well off are waiting with elbows ready to buy stuff that's reduced from £20 to a tenner with the hope of selling it for £15? There might be a few traders doing that as a source of income, but guessing most buy a few to see themselves through the year.

I don't really believe that people who can't afford the Boots products are missing out on much. Even the recent BBC programme on beauty products said cheaper makeup and creams work just as well. So if you can't afford it save money on vital things like food and medicine. I don't know why people buy reduced gifts on eBay or the like full well knowing they were cheaper during the sales. Just hop along to a discount store and buy a similar product? Gift giving is also overrated, people value time much more than gifts. Just don't buy gifts and expensive items at Boots when alternatives are available!

My issue isn't really about the profiteering - greedy people are greedy …My issue isn't really about the profiteering - greedy people are greedy people whether they are in big business or a one person side gig - it is about allowing these people to come on here and rub people's noses in the dirt.If people wish to be greedy, fine, but why can't they just take the happiness from the deal, why should the moderators allow them to come on here and deliberately make nasty comments on here for the express purpose of showing contempt for fellow members of this community?Moderators should address this issue same as they do (I assume!) for foul language, threatening behaviour, racism, etc.

I dont want this thread to turn in to something negative so i'd like to just try and bring it to a conclusion with a bit of quick feedback from our point of view.

If you believe any members of the community are threadspoiling or derailing threads by trying to get a rise out of others then please drop us a report and we'll take a look. If people want to take full advantage of offers/promos then they will always do so. Whether that is fair or not really doesn't come into the equation but if they're using HotUKDeals to wind others up then our rules cover this and we'll be happy to take a look.

I'd appreciate it if we can just leave it there for now please as I dont want to have to run through a length (and popular thread) and start a big tidy up for it being really off-topic. Thanks

Totally agree, i remember few years ago there was a misprice on the perfumeshop and expensive perfumes were selling for £10
I only oredered 2 and got an email says there are oos, other member posted pictures that they have ordered 30 bottles of perfume and they have been delivered. I was really annoyed how some people are greedy! (edited)

Also says that fragrance gift sets will only be 50% not 70%.
Dont know about other smaller branches, but my local wasn't well stocked this year even before Christmas. I know larger stores had a lot more, but guessing that if you don't have a big one close then it'll be a wasted trip.

I agree seen a hairdryer on here i was always wanting. But 90 pound rrp was too much. It got reduced as seen on here to 9.99 . I desperately tried to get one. Commented they were gone and i was gutted. A guy started gloating how he had bought 14 to sell on ebay. I was rather upset so i know what you are saying. Its the gloating after you been on the hduk goose chase and got nowhere.

I have no problem with folks going to boots(or anywhere else) and buying up stock and selling it on at a profit, I also have no problem if they wish to boast about it on here or down their local boozer. I just opt not to read it, I certainly wouldn’t get annoyed about it! I’ve done the boots 70% day a few times in order to get my pressies for the following Xmas!! It’s been a great gig for me in the past. Get there around 8 if you have a mega store nearby and enjoy the trolly dash....oh and get a trolly!! There’s usually some ok stuff and the rest is all just average turd but if it helps you save on pressies through the year or even helps your annual income I say fair play.

I'm struggling to believe people really make a lot of money buying and re-selling them on Ebay. Lets say they buy them for 70% off RRP and sell them for 50% off RRP to make a profit. These sets have been sitting on the shelves in Boots for 50% off since December! If anyone wanted them they could just walk in and buy them. So where are all these people buying them on Ebay? The idea that anyone buys them for full price on Ebay is even sillier. Either that or the world is just full of mugs.

Also, on the Soap n Glory debate- they have one or two products I really love. The bubble bath is probably my favourite in the world as it smells amazing on delivers on the promise of moisturising as you bathe. Their Supercat eyeliner is very good as well. However, I don't go mad over the gift sets as they tend to have a bunch of stuff I don't really want in them (I can only use so much shower scrub!). Some people will tell you it's all the same product in different packaging and you should just buy Tesco value shower gel, however those people are wrong (though they will save money!).

I went to Boots at about 1pm and there were lots of gift sets and candles and even food sets which is rare in my town so actually it seems people didn't go ott this year!
  39. deleted1294662's avatar
It'll be about the right price once it's 70% off. Hugely inflated prices on most of the gift sets.
I popped in today to see what they had and the shelves were pretty much empty.
Loads of people with several baskets full. They should make it a maximum of 5 items per person. Gives everyone a fair chance to buy a few items. Instead it'll end up on market stalls and eBay.
