Should also add: if you buy a smart TV for the “smart” stuff, you’re a marketing mug. You buy it for the TV and then you buy a FireTV Stick because that will still receive updates after 12 months, unlike your TV’s apps which will slowly stop working.
Will check out Costco thanks
Who are you? Mystic Meg? Do you do your own crystal ball sessions?
Yeah my living room is colder now though!
They do match after voucher code. But I don’t think they’ll match this because the warranty needs to be the same amount of years that richer sounds offer (6 years)
seems an awesome picture with ambilight and decent sound. The software is Philips own, it doesn't run on android but I will use a firestick anyway.
I've ordered one at this price this morning.
I did and it isn't good at all. Needs to be no more that 20-30cm from a wall all the way round to work properly.
Very dull image, android 9 implementation on the Philips was poor and seemed like there was almost a daily firmware update that would fix something and make something else worse like sound, app response etc. It was not a 4K HDR TV at all and the upscaling was awful. I think peak brightness is about 200-300 nits which can't really show HDR at all. The ambilight was a nice feature though. I also believe the Philips LED LCDs use the 1st generation P5: processor. I sent it back after a less than 2 weeks. Ended up spending, a bit more and got a Samsung Q90R and I couldn't be happier. Lovely bright super crisp image with excellent OS, app support and sound. I would consider a Philips OLED and for the price this seems great but a 2 year guarantee bothers me.
Philips wins on motion processing.
The philips has ambilight.
The LG lacks the support for both kinds of HDR.
The Philips is 20% cheaper
LG has better smart functionality.
2018 to 2019 oled panels are indistinguishable.
For someone who bought the TV for HDR, and will use sky Q, the philips ticks way more boxes. (edited)
thats a different TV at a different price, and out of stock.
Very unlikely they will price match as the warranty is different. I bumped into this issue when purchasing another Philips TV when trying to price match. Worth a shot though
Does anyone have experience of Ambilight in the corner of a room? I imagine not as good as against a flat wall, but is it still worth having?
LG panels, quality wise they on par with LG b and c series.
I would onloy put this on a flat wall, think it would look strange on a corner as only the sides would light up properly.
Yes you're right, this year's models have 2019 panels
The only exciting this is the ambient light but even then I wouldn't get it.
Spend a bit more and go for the B9 or c9
We have our 55 inch in a corner, albeit not a oled version, and have no complaints, no doubt the effect would work better if it was flat on a wall, but we find it works OK in a corner, although having said that if i could work out how to rearrange our lounge to get it flat on a wall I probably would to get the full effect
It really is! We thought it'd just be a fad, but it's so difficult going back to one without!
I've the 854 so things might be slightly different on the non-android software, but you can use google assistant from the remote, and there's a built in app to pair it with amazon alexa to control it from your alexa devices. I'm unsure if you can use the TV to control other things via alexa (edited)
I've just set it up and it is beautiful! You won't be disappointed.
Was going to say... HDMI 2.1 or bust at this point
you were right
Sorry thought you meant the £.

Do their T&C's only allow price match if cheaper elsewhere including a 6 yr warranty ? (edited)
They probably won't match price after voucher code
According to the guarantee, I think they price match voucher codes.

However, that product is only on pre-order at Richer Sounds. It may need to be in stock??
